Office equipment plugged into 'battery' outlets were dead this morning and UPS would reset only briefly. All devices worked when plugged into 'surge' side or unprotected wall outlet. Clocks in area were not flashing as usual after power outage. Now, at end of day, unit resets as if no problem.
Does this indicate a problem with the batteries? Unit is approx. 8-10 years old. Can batteries be replaced/serviced or is it cheaper just to buy a new UPS? Could it be that an otherwise unnoticed outage exhausted the batteries which recharged during the day (as in...functioning normally)? Then, why no flashing clocks? Thanks for your input. --Lynn--
These CPS650SL's are at that age where they need a new battery. You can find these at: http://www.batteryinternational.com/cyber-power-cps650sl-ups-battery-ups-batteries-f1.html
It's usually less expensive to get a new battery instead of replacing the whole unit. It only takes a moment and keeps it out of the garbage.
It would appear that you need to replace the battery on this unit.
You could get a new battery from a local battery specialty store like Batteries Plus or Interstate Battery, or online at www.replacementupsbattery.com. A new battery would be about $30. If you took your old battery there, they could recycle your old one, as well as match it up with the correct one you would need (BP7.5-12 battery).
You could compare the cost of a new battery to the cost of a new unit.
We have a 3 year warranty on all our battery back up units. If you have any questions, you could contact us here at CyberPower Systems Technical Support at 877-297-6937, M-F 8-5 Central, or email us at [email protected].
