SOURCE: vacuum wand won't retract fully into it's compartment.

HI,
FIRSTLY DETACH WAND FROM UNIT AND SLIDE HOSE DOWN AS FAR AS IT GOES, SPRAY A LITTLE WD40 OVER WAND AND SLIDE HOSE UP AND DOWN, AS FOR THE CAP, TAKE A PAIR OF PLIARS, GRAB HOLD OF END OF CAP AND PULL CAP FULLY OUT OF THE HANDLE,AT THIS POINT CHECK THE SPRING OR REMOVE THE SPRING IF YOU PREFER AND PUSH THE CAP BACK INTO HANDLE AND THAT WILL DO IT FOR YOU.

SOURCE: Our Dyson Animal DC28 is

        Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28. If it doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, it's possible that there's a blockage in the system, and you may need to give the filters a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

        http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1231&product=DC28-ANIMAL

The correct way to wash the filters is shown in the video below. Under normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without any detergents, and ensure the filters are totally dry before replacing them - this may take up to 24 hours.

        http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1456&product=DC28-ANIMAL

Hopefully, by clearing any obstructions and washing the filters, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON - or if you email your details to [email protected], someone will be in contact as soon as possible.

SOURCE: I have a Dyson Animal

          Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28 Animal. From what you've described, it sounds as though the hose may have been twisted the last time you replaced the wand on the machine. This is easy to resolve by following these steps:

          • Extend the wand upwards as far as possible
          • With the rear of the cleaner facing you, follow the hose down to where it attaches to the cleaner
          • Whilst stretching the loose section of hose away from the cleaner, pull the hose release tab to detach the base of the hose from the cleaner
          • Allow the hose to untwist itself
You should now be able to pull the wand out to it's fullest extent, removing it from the cleaner. Once you've done this, simply reattach the lower end of the hose to the cleaner.

If you have any further questions, or if you'd prefer someone to talk you through this process, you can call us free on 1866MYDYSON.

          Kind regards,

How do I get the tube to fit into the coil?

          Hi there,

The wand is designed to retract automatically down into the hose when you replace the wand assembly on the cleaner. However, if you're encountering resistance when you try to retract the wand, it could be because the hose is twisted. Remove the wand assembly from the machine, and allow the hose to untwist itself before replacing it again.

          Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07 Animal. From what you've described, it sounds as if the wand has been replaced on the cleaner without the hose being retracted. To remove the wand from the machine, hold the cleaner securely in place by placing one foot on the cleaner head, then pull the wand up forcefully whilst holding the purple quick-draw hose release (located above the on/off switch) down. Make sure you are not leaning over the top of the wand as you do this.

Once you've freed the wand from the cleaner, make sure you retract the wand before replacing it on the cleaner again. Hold down the hose release button on the hose cuff as you retract the wand inside the hose.

You might find it useful to refer to the user guide supplied with the cleaner - in case you don't have this to hand, you can download a copy here:

I have the wand open and I can't put back together

          Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. The wand is engineered to retract automatically back down inside the hose when you replace the wand assembly on the machine. You can see the correct way to do this in the user guide supplied with the cleaner - in case you don't have this to hand, you can download a copy here:

          http://media.dyson.com/downloads/us/floorcare/manuals/dc25_opmanual_usa.pdf

If you're experiencing resistance when you try to retract the wand, check that the hose isn't twisted - this can restrict the motion of the wand, and will make it difficult to remove the wand assembly from the cleaner. In this case, do not force the wand down into place, but remove it from the machine again and allow the hose to straighten itself out before replacing it.

Hopefully this information should help you resolve your issue - however, if you're still concerned, please get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can provide further assistance. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). We'll look forward to hearing from you.

I can pull the wand out on the DC28, but I can't find a button to release the wand to go back into the hose. I use a screw driver to push the lock in surley this isn't the only way?

          Hi there,

The wand on your Dyson is designed to retract into the hose automatically when you replace it on the cleaner's main body. You can see how to do this in the user guide supplied with your cleaner. In case you don't have this to hand, here's an online copy:

          http://media.dyson.com/downloads/US/floorcare/Manuals/dc28_opmanual_usa.pdf

You do not need to use any additional tools to retract the wand.

If you have any further questions about using or maintaining your Dyson cleaner, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to provide the information and assistance you need. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON - or if you email your details to [email protected], someone will be in contact as soon as possible.

          Hi there,

The Quick-draw Telescope Reach wand on your DC28 is designed to detatch from the cleaner automatically when you extend the wand to it's fullest extent. When you replace the wand on the cleaner, the wand will retract automatically down inside the hose. The button on the rear of the wand which you mention will separate the end of the hose from the wand, so you can use the hose without the wand attached when cleaning in tighter spaces. You do not need to press this to extend or retract the wand.
