If you are by a microwave it is in the same bandwidth and can cause that problem even if you change channels. See if that is the problem

Clicking noise and out of range

digital is supposed to stop your calls from been listened into, if it is analogue it is very easy.
are there a choise of different channels? can you haer her conversations?
turn off the base and try turning on the handset and see if you can listen in?
if the phone battery is getting old it won't transmit as far.
the signals move in line of sight so if you move the base it might work better for you and maybe make it difficult to listen in?9They might get your signal stronger than there own?

Cordless phone conflict with wireless home computer router

It looks like it's been solved by purchasing a new 1.8GHz phone- the new one seems to be having no problems. The retailer shop man said they often hear of this type of problem and recommend the 1.8GHZ models -- wish they'd told us that before we bought the previous one!!!

Uniden dect 6.00

handset dies or cuts off frequently during calls or when talk is pressed to answer even when fully charged and right in front of the base unit. Beyond frustrating.
If I hadn't lost the reciept, I'd return this useless phone in an instant.
