The bars on your laptop or iPhone means that you are connected to the router! Not necessarily to internet. Your internet depends on ISP Internet service provider and modem which connected to your router. To check if you have active internet connection connect your laptop directly to modem provided by your ISP with ethernet cable and try to open a internet browser IE or Safari or Chrome or Firefox and open a webpage! If you are able to connect internet by this mean you have internet connection active. Now disconnect your lap top from modem and connect modem to your Linksys router using WAN port of LINKSYS! Its good to power off and power on (power cycle) once on modem and router to make it work!
good luck!
The access code or password is the
encryption key in your wireless router, without this key the wireless router
won't allow the laptop/computer to connect to this wireless router. The WEP, WPA, WPA2
encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and
got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption
key. Then go to your computer/laptop's wireless card and configure it with the
router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router
and the Internet.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the laptop to the router.
Access the router's built-in web-interface.
Run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard"
to create your own wireless network,
and choose a SSID and choose a password.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable, and use "View Available Wireless Networks".
This is my fovorite thing about linksys routers, they hate everything. Unfortunately I still haven't figured out a technical way to fix this problem, but usually pressing the reset button on the modem and the router then unplugging them for 3 minutes and plugging them back in works. If thta doesn't work try going into the status page of the router and tell us what that says.
Desk top to internet is OK. How about Destop through Router connection to Internet OK? Assuming you want to connect wireless from Lap top to Network, need to configure correctly for wireless in Router. If you connect Lap top to router by wire and it didn't work that mean your router is bad.
Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
Its possible that the linksys adapter is not setup properly, or it does not have the same wireless settings set on your 2wired wireless modem. Do you know if the network form 2wire has a security. You can checkt he site survery tab of your linksys monitor.
First thing to do here is to make sure your laptop is connected to the wireless network of your router if its a wireless laptop, if its not connected manually connect it to the wireless network of the router the restart the laptop and check if internet is already working............
