They do make a adapter that converts composite video to s-video. Another way is to use a audio video receiver that converts composite video to hdmi. The model # is rx-v663 yamaha a/v receiver sold at bestbuy. The adapter which would be a lot cheaper is also on bestbuy.com you can type in composite video to s video converter in search box on bestbuy.com or google it.

I have a JVC VCR HR-A34U how do I connect it to a digital cable box that has 7 VCR jacks in the back.I have connected the TV and that works fine

The JVC HR-A34U only has an RF (antenna) input. You would need a converter for composite video, S-Video or component video to RF. I don't recall seeing a component video to RF converter. Amazon has several composite video to RF options. One is https://www.amazon.com/RCA-Compact-RF-Modulator-CRF907A/dp/B0014KKV7W . For this, you connect the Yellow (video), Red (audio) and White (audio) RCA outputs on the cable box to the converter. Then connect the RF cable between the converter and the VCR.

I hope this helps.

(These modulators were very common back when VCRs and video game systems first came out. Most TVs only had the RF inputs at the time and the video signals from the new devices had composite video only.)

Have Panasonic The;37pw5 plasma tv . How do I get broadcast tv?

You will need some sort of digital (ATSC) to analog (NTSC) OTA signal converter (set-top box) with an antenna. The Panasonic TH-37PW5 only has NTSC (in the US) or PAL (UK) tuners. There may be a few low power NTSC stations still broadcasting in the U.S. However, you need to be close to their transmitter to receive the signal. You can use one of the original converter that were available with the government coupon. There are some newer models available. Look at your choices carefully. You will need a converter with RF, composite video or component video output. Any model with only HDMI out will require an additional converter connected between the set-top box and the TV.

The specifications for the TH-37PW5 are available on page 38 of the manual. This is available from Panasonic here: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/television/om/th-42pw5_en_om.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Bought an lg 3d smart tv. It has NO input/output jacks whatsoever, just hdmi & usb jacks. Wii does not have usb. How in the world am I suppose to hook this up? Is there a special adapter I need?

The original Wii console has Component, Composite or S-Video out. Your best bet is the Component out with a component video to HDMI converter. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/770114-REG/KanexPro_RGBRLHD_Component_to_HDMI_Audio_Video.html is one of these converters. You'll also need the RCA component video (3 RCA plugs) and audio cables (2 plugs) and an HDMI cable. These aren't sold in the box with the converters. Before buying a converter, check the output signal resolution.

I hope this helps.

(composite video to HDMI converters also exist. However, the resolution of the composite video signal is lower than the resolution on the component video signal.)

Can you connect a hd converter to a Toshiba cx 32 g60 tv

there isn't much point in connecting an hd converter the toshiba cx32g60. the tv can only support an sd signal (composite video or ntsc analog). however, many hd set-top boxes (dvd players, cable and satellite) have composite outputs. these can be connected to your tv. blu-ray videos can't be watched with this tv. (the hdcp (high definition copy protection) can't be sent through most converters.)

if you want to watch ota programming , the cheapest option would be to find an sd digital-to-analog converter. these were the ones sold when most stations switched to digital tuners. some are being sold off as people replace their old analog sets. there are some hd tuner boxes, like this one: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?mc=03&p=3500stb&d=iview-hd-dvr-receiverconverter-box-for-tv-antenna-qam-%283500stb%29&c=digital%20converter%20boxes&sku= , that have composite video output which will connect to the cx32g60.

i hope this helps.

(if you tried an hdmi to component video converter followed by a component to composite video converter, the signal may degrade excessively.)

How do i hook a bluray player up only with hmdi cable to a older tv without hmdi hookup?

Hi,
Just buy an HDMI to AV converter box. It will converter the HDMI to Composite video. If your TV have Component video input then its better to buy HDMI to Component video cable. component video quality is better than composite. Its have resolution up to 1080i.

How do I connect the set top box to analogue television

What type of set top box? What outputs are available on the box and what inputs are on the TV?

For a basic OTA digital to analog converter, you put the antenna coaxial cable to the antenna in of the box. Then either connect the coax out to the TV's antenna in (set the tv and the box to Channel 3 or 4) or connect the composite out to the composite in of the TV (set the TV to the AV source).

For a set top box that has a composite out and a TV that only has a coaxial input, you need to add a RF modulator. Something like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103095 . If you have a composite input on the TV, use the composite cable directly; the modulator will decrease the signal strength.

There are other converters for component out to composite video. See http://www.svideo.com/ypbpr2svideo.html . Going from a digital source (HDMI) to analog can be done but the resulting signal is poor compared to the original. Also DHCP content will not be transferred. See http://www.gefen.com/gefentv/gtvproduct.jsp?prod_id=5280 for an example.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the specifics of your set top box and tv for the best choice for your situation.

Do i need a converter box for a samsung syncmaster 940 mw

It depends. What are you using the monitor for? If you want to watch digital TV, you need a digital to analog converter. (It has an NTSC tuner.) Note: the digital to analog converters that were subsidized by the US government coupon only gave SD out.

If you are connecting to a PC, it has DVI-D (21 pin SCART) and VGA connections (15 pin SCART). (An HDMI to DVI cable or adapter would connect to HDMI video cards.) Most other set-top boxes will connect to the component, composite or S-video connectors.

I hope this helps.

When connecting video or set-top box using composite video cable picture is black and white. If I use S-video I get colour. Video only has scart and tv only has composite/component/s video connectors so I...

you really cant convert to component. it defeats the whole purpose of upgrading your tv. with your tv you should be using hdmi to connect all your devices your cable box should deffinatly have one. any time you connect component to something else you will get black and white hdmi is totally digital where as component is still analog pluse you dont need audio cables with hdmi its just one digital cable
