Change the thread
put in a new needle--normally flat side goes to the back of the machine
keep a thread tail of both top thread & bobbin of at least 3 to 5 inches & make sure the thread is pulled behind the needle to the back of the machine

SOURCE: thread constantly wraps around spool pin

Cut a round curcle of fabric the size of the spool from a piece of felt. Put a hole in the middle and put it under the spool of thread. If this does not work you can purchase a small net that fits over the spool. It is designed to keep the thread from coming off the spool except for being pulled through naturally.
Hope this works.

SOURCE: bobbin thread getting jammed

kyoungblood4
Are you making sure that your pressure foot is up when you thread the upper thread? If it isn't then your thread is not seating correctly in the tension disks. It will then be loose and make a birds nest(mess) under what you are trying to sew. The other thing to check is which way you are putting the bobbin into the bobbin case, different machines do it different ways. Some want the thread to come out of the case in the same direction as the slot on the case and some want it to come off in the opposite direction.

Guest,
Probably when your son broke the needle he knocked it out of time. You will need to have a sewing machine technician to repair that.

Hope this has been helpful for you bothl Liz M

SOURCE: Upper thread wraps around bobbin mechanism, while sewing

IT PROBABLY IS THREADED INCORRECTLY. GO SLOWLY BY THE DIAPHRAGM AND MAKE SURE IT IS THREADED CORRECTLY. ALSO MAKE SURE SPOOL PIN HOLDERS ARE IN PLACE THAT HELPS TO GUIDE THE THREAD CORRECTLY.

SOURCE: thread jams & wheel axel cannot turn

there are a couple of things that come to mind.
Bobbin:   wound with uneven tension.  Try taking the bobbin, rewind that thread onto another bobbin and wind slowly.  make sure the thread feeds onto the new bobbin evenly.
upper thread:  catching on something or not flowing off the spool easily.
you're doing well, sounds like you consulted the manual and used your noggin, hang in there and let me know if this doesn't help.  we can troubleshoot some more!

SOURCE: Top thread keeps getting wrapped around bobbin case on LX-3125

You should hold the end of the thread coming through the needle until the thread has grasped the bobbin thread.

Thread breaking on elna lotus tsp

When it stitches, does appear the top thread is tighter and pulling the bobbin thread up? Pay attention to what is happening before the thread breaks. Sew slowly and manually turn the handwheel. Where does it break? What are the symptoms before it breaks? Does it fray/shred at the needle eye? (The thread is not advancing through the needle eye properly and is actually being shredded, could be the needle has a sharp spot or the needle eye is too small for the thread. Coarse fabric will also shred thread.) Do you notice the top thread getting tighter and tighter and then finally popping? (The thread is being held back somewhere in the thread path {misthreading'--happens to me when it gets wrapped around the spool pin or a thread guide.)

Suggest removing the top thread completely from the machine. Install a brand new needle that is the appropriate size and type for the thread and fabric. Remember to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct. Adjust the top tension until the top and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

My top tread going in the small hole to bobbin keep on breaking.it embroider normal for short periods and the break.

First, install a brand new needle. Verify that it is the correct needle and needle eye size for the thread and fabric you are sewing. (Change needles frequently. Needles are the most inexpensive sewing accessory and most the most common repair for a malfunctioning sewing machine.)

What you are experiencing sounds like the thread is shredding at the needle eye and eventually breaking. Sometimes, a top stitch needle will work better because the groove in the back of the needle shields the thread better as the needle pierces the fabric multiple times. A piece of thread can pierce the fabric over a dozen times before it forms a stitch, so friction and rough fabric will take its toll.

All About Needles

Use only good quality threads--AVOID old thread and bargain bin threads. They are cheap and there is a reason why they are--because what they make up for in price is paid in frustration!!!! Polyester thread used to be the bane of sewing machines, but polyester thread has greatly improved and is now a favorite for experienced sewists. It is thin and strong. Threads that are fuzzy (cotton-wrapped polyester of old Coats & Clark variety) threads are not the best for your machine or project. Check out better quality threads, ie Gutermann, Superior, Sulky, Aurfil, Isacord, and multiple other brands. Make sure you are buying the correct type of thread for your project--don't use embroidery thread to sew your garment unless you want the seams to pop open while you're wearing it.

Remove the thread from your machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and then rethread from the beginning. The raised presser foot releases the tension disk so the thread will seat properly.

Check that the upper tension is set somewhere around the midway point. This is a factory standard although most machines may require some adjustments. Test the stitch on your fabric. The tension is ideal when both upper and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric. If the bobbin thread shows on top of the fabric, the upper tension is too tight. If the upper thread shows on the underside of the fabric, the upper tension is too loose.

If the thread is still shredding, then there's a likelihood there is a burr or nick somewhere on the needleplate or in the bobbin/hook area. If you wrap your index finger with fine fabric (like old hosiery) and rub you finger around, you may find the burr. If it is small, you can lightly smooth it with a fine emery board. If it is a large one, you may need to replace the part.

My thread keeps breaking, Ive checked and changed my needle, re-threaded bobbin and upper but every time I try to sew the upper thread breaks.

Have you tried loosening the upper tension? Remove the upper thread, RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning (make sure it follows the correct thread pathway). Sometimes the upper thread jumps out of a thread guide or wraps around something. Or try a different brand of thread? Avoid old or bargain bin threads--use good quality thread. Could also be the incorrect needle for the thread/fabric, ie thread too large for the needle eye.

When I start to sew the thread pops out of the needle

make thread tails 4 to 6 inches long & pull them behind the needle before you start to sew, & you should not have any more problems, that's what I do before I sew.

I have the Kenmore sewing machine #16231. When I was sewing the bobbin holder popped out and a bunch of thread bunched together and wrapped around the bobbin and caused bunching of thread on my fabric...

Bunching of thread is 99% a top tension problem. Make sure you thread the top thread correctly. Thread the machine with the presser lever up. Test the tension by lowering the presser lever before threading the eye of the needle, by pulling the thread with your left hand and adjusting the tension with your right hand while slowly pulling downwards. There should be no resistance when the tension dial is on zero, and you should be able to feel more resistance when you increase the tension. Ideal tension is between 3 and 5. When your top tension is correct, your machine should operate correctly. If you feel no resistance with the presser foot down and the tension dial on 5, check the tension disks for fluff or broken thread. When you lift the presser foot, the tension disks should open and you would be able to remove any cotton or fluff. Good Luck

Needle won"t stay threaded

that use to happen to me on my sewing machines, I would rethread the machine to make sure the thread is not caught on anything like the thread spool, or around anyone of the thread guides

also for both top & bottom threads, I keep a thread tail of 3 to 6 inches & before I start sewing I pull the thread behind the needle to the back of the machine & the I put the fabric under the foot & start sewing & now I don't have that problem anymore

I have a Necchi 537FA sewing machine. It sill sew about 39 stitches and then the thread gets caught in the bobbin area and stope sewing. I've cleaned, changed bobbins, spent time trying to fix the...

have you checked to see if the needle is bent-lay the needle on a flat surface & roll the needle over,, if the needle does not roll good -replace
blunt needle-if the needle makes a popping sound when the needle penetrates the fabric,,the needle is blunt-replace
sometimes if the thread comes off the thread take-up lever it can jam the thread in the bobbin area
try rethreading the machine
check to make sure the thread isn't wrapping around the spool pin
check the spool of thread to see if the notch on the spool is catching the top thread
check to see if there's a burr on the bobbin case

Will not sew a locked stitch and the thread keeps pulling out of the needle. Perhaps I have it threaded wrong. I cannot find the manual that came with the machine.

Maybe the needle isn't in correctly. The flat side of the needle faces right, Also, manual says it will use only Singer Red Band regular point style 2020 size 14 needles. I would think any brand, regular point, size 14 would work.

Threading this dog it not intuitive, and keeping it threaded is a continous task.
Next: Threading
!. Unwinding off spool clockwise --- up from the back through the **** on top . Do NOT wrap thread around tension disc (little round thingy) that is at the ****.

2.On the left end of the knob that looks like a sideways spool there are two silver discs. Slide the thread between them. Make sure it doesn't jump out (at any point during your task)and go one step to the left, between disc and sewing machine. Then down to:

3.Thread straight through 1/4" metal loop at knob-like thread guide. then thread makes a u-shaped trip up the knob-shaped guide to the take-up lever.. Thread tends to slip behind this guide, but needs to stay in the center.

4. Through the take-up lever, right to left, then down to thread guide next to needle, pulls through from back to front then through needle left to right.

OR IT could be the bobbin holder....not even going there right now. Good luck.
