Can I play the video and a dvd without the remote control?

My remote control is not working. The batteries are new and it still doesn't work. I would like to use the video player and a DVD player in the meantime, but I can not seem to change the channel to 4 or if there is an input channel to view videos or DVDs. I have tried configuring the cable remote to work with the TV but that proved futile. I also tried the DVD player remote, which was also futile.

Your set should have external video and audio imput jacks besides the tuner imput for antenna, you can use the video and audio outputs from the vcr or DVD and conect them to the video and audio imputs in the tv then you can select a channel below 1 or push the switch that says Video/antenna.

The remote doesn't work for any of the DVD functions.

1 replace the old batteries use new ones alkalines with the same mark and polarities.
2) clean the contacts batteries with c. cleaner.
3) open the remote control, and clean the keypads from dirty, oxide, corrosion, with c. cleaner.
4 Proceed again, if the problem persist, you must go to the repair shop TV or replace by new ones.

1) the batteries will be the same type and full charged
2) clean the contacts battery from dirty, dust, oxide or corrosion
3) retight the spring contacts battery with pliers for a GOOD contacts
4) open the remote.control and clean the keypads switch, from dirty, dust, oxide, Open contacts, or Bad contacts. they emite a good signal infrared from SYScon transmi vs Syscon receiver.
see the block diagram. If doesnot resolve the problem go to the repair shop TV for fix it.

My Maestro IR remote no longer works after 10 years

The infrared (IR) LED / remote may have stopped working. Since it emits IR light when used, you won't be able to actually see the light with the ***** eye. This makes it difficult, but not impossible to determine if the LED / remote is working or not. You can see if it works by pointing it a night time security camera - the type that has it's own built in IR LEDs to light up the area and does not need visible light to shine on the area (some video cameras can also "see" this light when playing back video taken of an active IR light source). Either record or have someone watch the display while pressing a button on the remote and aiming at the camera. You should be able to do this in broad daylight it will look like a flashlight shining into the camera.

If the LED in the remote is proved to be functioning, the IR receiver in the switch, or some other internal part of the switch may have failed. Since the receiver doesn't light up - there's no way to determine if this is the case without actually replacing the switch. It doesn't matter really, as there are no user replaceable parts in the switch - it either works, or it doesn't.

Ultimately, the best way to troubleshoot will be by replacing components with known good types. Use a battery that tests "good" on a tester, in a new or known to be good remote, used on a new or known to be good switch. You'd would deal with the situation by swapping only ONE component at a time. Once you change the device that allows to circuit to work, replace the new components with the old - except to last one; as this was likely the component that caused the failure.

Try taking the remote to a Home Depot, Lowe's or other similar store with a display of these switches. Do what you need to do to your remote to see if you can control any of the switches/ lights.

Good luck!

My remote control will not work at all help? I went a long time without using my dvd player and the remote use to work just fine however i tried putting in new batteries ive went online to get codes for...

Check the leads of the remote where the batteries are inserted. Sometimes the leads corrode that causes a non-contact. Scratch it using a smooth sandpaper or even a utility knife to erase the corroded part.

Hope it will work.

Thanks for using fixya...

Samsung DVD r135 no reaction using remote control but recorder reacts on remote control from Samsung TV, batteries check. Disconnect the recorder from the power over night no change, still own remote...

Try this. Remove the batteries from the recorder's remote control and hold down the POWER button on it for 30 seconds. Then replace the batteries with fresh ones. It should work fine after that.
If not, the remote control may be defective.
You can purchase a new remote control at www.samsungparts.com

My remote does not work

Reset remote. If universal remote, put on dvd mode.
  • If your remote has a Reset button, take out the batteries and press the Reset button for 2 or 3 seconds. Re-inset the batteries and try using the remote again.
  • Note: Many remotes have a small hole marked Reset instead of a raised Reset button. To activate the Reset function, you need to push a thin, rigid wire (for example, a straightened paper clip) into the hole to "press" the Reset button. Also, the Reset button or Reset hole may be located under a sliding cover on the lower section of the remote.
  • Remove the batteries and hold down the POWER button for 1 minute. Insert fresh batteries and try using the remote control again.
  • If this does not solve your problem, remove the batteries again and press and release each button on the remote control once, then repeat. Re-insert the batteries and try operating your remote again.

Otherwise you need a new remote. If under warranty call manufacture to see about getting one free of charge. They can also help you purchase a new one if not under warranty.
