Under normal conditions the motor works great but under high stress, wind and big waves the motor will some times growl and slip ,loss of power until I remove the power and than it will work normally, could it be the prop? Or is there something else wrong.
SOURCE: how to remove the prop
there is a plastic nut that screws onto the prop shaft and needs to be unscrewed. there is also a metal pin that goes through the shaft that needs to be in place and in the right position when you replace the prop. make sure you clear out any fishing line etc that may have collected behind it when you change props.sually recommend you put a little clear silicone grease on the parts as you assemble them as well.ake sure you disconnect the power leads from the battery while your doing this to avoid injury.

I'm having the same problem - does the motor have brushes and could this be the problem? mjj2103

Hello, You have several points to check. #1 check your wiring connections--- plug, plug socket, wiring connections internal of trolling motor, condition of wiring to battery, battery terminal connection & charge of battery. #2 borrow someones DVM (digital multimeter) and check the resistance of the speed control as you turn it without any wires connected to it. #3 if problem not found take 2 aspirin and E-mail me of test results "for further review".
