Optoma HD65 Fan Replacement?

Hi Every, My internal fan had been broken for the past 6months and I cant afford the £200 to have the projector fixed professionally so I have decided to fix it myself. I know which fan has broken, its the turbine fan deep routed within the system. But before I do anything radical I wanted to know if anyone knew what model of Sunon fan I was dealing with or weather there was any other alternatives I could buy to replace the broken one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Damian

In case anyone is having a similar problem, I was able to take the projector apart and can tell you the fan is a Sunon Maglev GB1245pkv1-8ay

Im after a fan for the optoma hd65 projector its a sunon 12v 3.0w 20x60x60

Testimonial: "http://www.aliexpress.com/ This is where I purchased my new fan it cost around $15 plus postage. The item was used but worked fine. To find the correct fan you need the model number which is printed on the front of the fan. Once you have this a quick search in Google and you will find plenty of people selling them. An easy watch to remove the 3.0w cooling fan is by carefully bending the metal that holds it in place. Otherwise go here and follow the steps to disassemble then entire device: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1242314/disassembling-the-hd65-a-pictorial-guide"

SOURCE: Optoma HD65 bulb only 108 hrs old having difficulty starting up

Use the warranty! since you anly had it for 8 weeks, and the waaranty last for one year, go back with it and get it repaired or get a new bulb. A buld last at least 2500 hours, in eco mode it last for over 3000 hours.

Good luck to you

SOURCE: My Optoma HD65 Projector stops starts working and

Possible cause is overheating.
Do you hear the fan working?
What happens when you use the lowest level light output?
Does it run longer?

Also possible cause is a faulty temp sensor.
AC wire connection may not be firmly pressed in socket.

SOURCE: Optoma hd65 projector new bulb wont turn on...cant reset timer!

I think it's a lamp driver issue from what I've seen others have gone through. I also read that if you go through the sequence of unplugging, plug back in, wait 20 seconds and try to turn on, multiple times, it will finally kick on and work. I just got mine to turn back on by doing this and waiting through the fan cycling without the light turning on. After the 4th sequence the light flickered. After the 7th sequence it finally turned on and is working. Now I can watch the Super Bowl and will look into replacing soon.

I have had my hd65 for about two years. 7 months ago i had the red blinking kight start and couldnt afford to buy new bulb. i recently bought new bulb....installed it and now im getting no power to the...

It will be due to the missing cover, as the lamp module gets very hot. You could possibly make one, I wouldn't like to guarentee the safety of it though. Usually the cover has a pin or something that engages a safety switch. Maybe the manufacturer Optoma can supply a new cover, the cost would ensure safety from a fire.

Good luck

MY OPTOMA HD65 KEEP TURNING OFF AFTER 1 TO 2 MIN. OF USE THE FAN IS RUNNING WHAT ELSE COULD BE WRONG WITH IT IT IS ONLY 1 YEAR 4 MONTHS OLD ..IT ALSO HAD A NEW BULB

Try cleaning the filter. If the area where it is installed is enclosed this will also cause over heating.. Make sure you have adequate air flow in the place where it is located and clean the filter.

The problem with my projector is it keeps flashing green and red

hi,

your statement is not very specific but if the power led is flashing green and the lamp led is flashing red that indicates a fan failure.

contact optoma support here and enquire if you can have a warranty repair, or how much it may cost to have the fault fixed.
