DISH HDMI not working

I installed two new plasma's and the HDMI outlet is not working on either. I called Dish and they said they were aware of the problem and are addressing it, but could ot give me a time frame when it would be fixed. Do I have another option to get the highest quality picture from my new tv's?

Why wont my surround work with new Dish network dvr.

Hello,

When the DISH Network installed hooked up their DVR, did they connect it via HDMI? If so, then it could be a bad HDMI connection. I would bet they simply bypassed your receiver and went straight to the TV, which is why no audio comes out of your receiver. You can test this by turning on your DVR and TV. If you see picture with your receiver OFF, then they bypassed your receiver. You'll need to hook up and HDMI cable from the DVR into the receiver and then out of the receiver to the TV.

I have Dish Sattelite. The screen on my JVC digital tv says digital strength is low. Do I call Dish? or ?

This sounds like a cable issue. Assuming your Dish receiver is connected to your TV with a HDMI cable (ends are rectangular and the connector is trapezoid in shape), you can first attempt to switch HDMI ports on the back of your TV. If you get the same message, you can try flip the cable end for end -- plug the TV end into the receiver and the receiver end into the TV (I know, sounds silly, but has worked for me). Next is a new (better -- don't get a $5 cable, most good HDMI cables start close to $20 and up depending on length).

Now if you happen to be connecting via a "standard" TV cable (RG 6), first make sure that the cable is screwed on snuggly (no wrench needed, just finger tight). Next is to get a new cable.

Hi my nameis Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see you have a green line on the rightside of the screen, and there was a service tech that said "the HDMI port isbad". The first thing to try is another HDMI cord to see if the problem isstill going on, if it still continues please e-mail me at [email protected].

Try unplugging the receiver from your electrical outlet for 10 seconds and plug back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and re-acquire the satellite signal. After this, you should get your picture back. I hope this helps.

HDMI only works after warming up??

The HDMI inputs do a lot of hand shaking and while hand shaking they sometimes miss the grip. It is all about data and communication not being seen or understood. Sometimes it is a Software issue and the TV and or Dish Box needs the HDMI Software upgraded if available for the respected models. If the Component cables work well and they should, I would just use them. The picture quality is just as good and it works every time.
Hope this helps,
