Answered your own question : generally the fuel supply to the motor is through a small hole at the base of the tank , at full you could probably tilt more aggressively and the line is getting fuel , however as the fuel runs down the fuel is on one side of the tank and is essentially not getting fed to the motor , you'll notice tilting it from horizontal to left you will get cut off , tilt to right it'll keep running depends on the locations of fuel line however , cars pre fuel pump days had similar problems
If you have a nice Stihl dealer he (or she) might be nice enought to print you the specific repair information that you may need but no place that I know of offers the complete manual for free.
mcculloch virginia mh542 hedge trimmer, fires 1st time, will only tick over roughly on full choke only then stalls when throttle applied, I have fitted new plug'cleaned air filter and new fuel mix but no change.
Depending on the age of the McCulloch cutter it could be 25:1 32:1 or on rare occasions 50:1.
Regardless you can't go wrong with 32:1. This ratio can be used in ANY 2 cycle engine with great results.
If this is a 2 cycle engine the problem could be that the exhaust is clogged. Most 2 cycle engines have a spark arrestor on the muffler which clogs. could also be the exhaust port from the engine. remove the muffler and check it out.
