Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.

  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

Philips 37pfl5322d will not power up. Have tried unplugging for 10 minutes and pluggin back in. Still no power.

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR POWER SUPPLY BOARD MIGHT HAVE SOME BLOWN CAPACITORS (CAPS). IF YOUR NOT FAMILIAR WITH ELECTRONICS I WOULD HAVE A TECH LOOK AT IT. ONLY BECAUSE IF YOU ACCIDENTLY TOUCH ONE OF THE CAPS INCORRECTLY YOU WILL END UP IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM.

Philips 47PFL7422 Flat Screen no power

Check the main fuse
If that is ok look for puffed up capacitors on the power supply
Check the 1000ufd @ 35v change them to 1000uf @ 50volts

Good luck
