I replaced high limit switch, thermistor, and thermal regulator today. Wasn't it. Fires normally and runs good for about 14 minutes. Then flame extinguishes, followed by one re-ignite, then immediate extinguish. Then "service heater" light. No fault LED's for HLS, PS, AFS, or SFS illuminate. But Control board says "ignition terminated", which is to be expected after second ignite fails. Looking at manual's flow chart I would think next move is replace ignition control module. But since it runs fine for a while before problem occurs I'm thinking it might fall under "premature flame extinction" which points to flame current not being sensed and says replace igniter. Well this sounds like a combustion air problem. The unit stays on as long as there is enough combustion air in the system then flames out. check all vent pipes.Well this sounds like a combustion air problem. Lockout is a safety feature. Usually a latching condition and needs to be investigated rather than blindly reset. (The Combi has a bit more intelligence.) With the ignition locked out, you can't hi-fire the boiler, so no hot water of either type. The 'L' should also show a code number - check your user manual (google) for more guidance.
I've had a lockout on a non-combi: it was caused by lack of circulation of central heating water through the boiler.... The system boiled and the trip tripped. The pump WAS running, but wear in a valve actuator resulted in the valve feedback saying valve open while it was physically shut.
7 blinks means unit is locked out it will stay locked out for one hour then try to light again it will try two times before lock out. Possible causes. Low gas pressure, Faulty gas valve, Faulty hot surface ignition or burner problem may cause this. Most common is Hot surface igniter.
cause: no gas insufficient gas incorrect gas valve adjustment electrode ignition lead defective electric igniter defective check air inlet duct check connections to igniter unit.
most common cause is igniter is defective (looks like a spark plug)
if you can hear a clicking when boiler goes to ignite, then it will be igniter at fault (no spark), check lead going to igniter (for any deterioration, looks like a ht lead). if all ok. change igniter.
Ignition Lockout on this unit means #1 that it is set up on propane. If you are low on propane, or were low on propane and just refilled, low/no gas pressure could be the issue. If you ran out of propane, thre is now air in the gas line that needs to be fully blead out.
If propane level is not the issue, replace the ignitor.
The ignitor on these units is also the flame rectifier (flame sensor). If the unit is firing up, but the computer thinks that it is not, then it is not sensing a flame. Replacing the flame rectifier/ignitor will fix the problem in this case.
Check and make sure there is nothing fallen on the igniter or spider webs on it. Anything touching it can cause a problem. Make sure wire is not burnt going to igniter. Gas Valve will lock out after a time period if no Ignition.
