Manufactured June 1999

Tv will turn on, Beautiful picture - 30 to 45 seconds later the screen goes black. If you turn it off and back on, it may or may not have picture - if it does, it only lasts 30 seconds or so before going black again.

anyone? I have checked the FBT, it does not have any cracked solder joints, maybe the HOT is turning off when warm?

found the problem, simple bad solder on the Horiz output transistor.. maybe its time for new glasses, lol

Beautiful picture for an hour, then only sound after the picture is lost.
    The picture lines out gradually.
    I have the Samsung plasma.

Sounds like power supply. Probably time for a new tv. You have already got almost 20 years service.

Sometims several capacitors start going bad giving you the audio problem, but I don't remember the set turning itself off. That could be a secondary problem around the flyback transformer which may have a bad solder connection. I would check that first. Otherwise, I would be tempted to go with HDTV.

Mike-It looks like the power supply is going on your tv-it can be replaced. This happens, usually, when little kids are playing wth the remote or power button on the tv. Turn it off and on a whole bunch of times in a row, kids love to do that, and it burns out the power supply part- to make a CRT tv like your RCA36 incher- which is a beautiful machine- I have the RCA/PROSCAN 36 incher-LAST longer...You should always wait 5 min between turning it off and on. Don't ever sell it. This one is worth fixing. It has better color and sound Than the new plasmas and lcds-The Pros know this. Be carefull, they might try and talk you out of it-so they can fix it and have it for themselves. So what if it's not High Deff. It's a great set.

The main board to your TV has the fault. Check and replace it. The work is a skilled one, and not a user reparable. Contact any experienced service technician.

17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.
