If you still have the old color cartridge, I would put it back in to see if the message goes away. It is likely that it is your new cartridge or something wrong with the housing that the cartridge is seated into. If you don't have the old cartridge, another new cartridge installed would determine if it is the cartridge or something to do with the housing. If after putting a different cartridge in the printer, you get the same message, then it is the housing.

SOURCE: Lexmark X125

try this..

unplug your printer from the wall for thirty seconds then plug back in. press the setup button on your printer. then press menu. press the options button until it says run test page. see if your black lines print out on your test page. if they still don't print, you should take a wet clean cloth and clean the copper strips on your ink cartridge. (you should see black ink on the cloth when your touch the little black sponge area just above the copper strip. Hope this helps.

The printer is showing Cartridge Error 1203 on

Hi,
I found if you cover a copper contact on the color cartridge the error clears and the cartridge works. Looking from the contact side for the color cartridge 2nd row contact 2 from the left. I found if I use an ohm meter from 2nd to 3rd contact I measure 119 ohms. I believe that is a shorted cartridge.

Put in new color cartridge and it won't print color

Hello, the new color cartridge might not be seated properly or just needs cleaning. Here are some tips on what to do to remedy the problem. Remove the cartridge from the printer. Double-check if protective seal is already removed. Take a warm, damp paper towel. Set the ink cartridge on the paper towel like how it is placed in the printer - nozzles facing down. Drag the cartridge lightly across the paper towel in one direction (left to right) until the bottom of the cartridge looks clean. Reinstall and properly secure the cartridge in its place. Hope this helps.

Lexmark x125 system error after installing new inks

All cartridge installation and level reporting is done through the printer itself, not the software. You should ensure the X125 has the cartridges installed in stand alone mode first. To do so, open the lid and remove the cartridges. Then unplug the power cord for one minute. Reinsert the cartridges, connect the power cord and close the lid. When the lid is closed, the display will ask you if "New" or "Old" cartridges were installed. If new, align the cartridges, if asked to do so. If this still presents you with a "Change Cartridge" message or something similar, please try a different cartridge.

This is very unusal with All-in-one printers. Have you try Hard reset till? Keeping the power on button press for 10 sec till it get on..

Also is the error showing on display screen of printer or at PC? Which Os is running on your PC.

Please also try this --> Power off the printer then computer, Unplug the printer from PC and then main power board--> then restart PC --> after then shut down PC and then again attach printer to PC and power on.

Let me know about the printer spooling if showing any error in Printer setting window.

Lexmark 125 Prints Labels with color cartridge

I kicked the **** out of it and it started to print. I don't recommend it if you are afraid you may damage the electronics. The way I saw I spent damn near 70 dollars on some useless print cartidges nothing was wrong with them. The error message kept saying ADD CARTRIDGES. Anyway I'm thinking about a new printer anyhow.

Lexmark X63 all-in-one printer shows "add left cartridge" after I already did and subsequently I receive printer busy message when trying to print. Worked perfectly before new left cartridge...

try powering off the printer for 30+ sec.... then turning it back on...
unplugging/replugging the cartridge and doing maintenance cycle
the printer's sensor are acting up and Lexmark won't really share how to reset these things, neither offer "logical" tips... The info given here was pretty much the Lexmark troubleshooting steps...

Error code 1203

To determine whether this error is due to a cartridge failure or a hardware problem with the printer, do the following: Make sure the printer is powered on. Open the printer's top cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position. Press down on the cartridge lever to raise the cartridge lid. Remove the cartridges. With the cartridges out of the printer, close the top cover. Power the printer OFF and then back ON. Check the operator panel to see if the 1203 error has returned or if a new message is displayed. If the message displayed is 1203, there is something wrong with the printer hardware. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support. If the message is Cartridge Missing, reinstall the cartridges into the printer. Insert the black cartridge in the left carrier. Insert the color cartridge in the right carrier. Snap the lids closed. Close the top cover. Check the operator panel. If the 1203 message is still present, you need to insert one cartridge at a time to determine which cartridge is producing the failure. With one cartridge in the carrier, close the top cover and check the operator panel. If the 1203 message is displayed, that cartridge is producing the error. If Cartridge Missing is displayed, the second cartridge is the defective item. Please replace the defective cartridge.
