SOURCE: Recovery disk needed

reboot
on reboot, enter BIOS setup, F1 Esc, whatever the prompts say
and change the boot sequence to a valid drive.
This may not work since you did not say what occurred to __kup the boot sequence

SOURCE: reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media

Try inserting your Windows CDROM at startup and look for press any key to boot from cd.
Wait 'til " Welcome to Setup" occurs and press R for repair.
Type Administrator password or just click enter after choosing
(most likely) 1. At windows prompt, type fixboot and after self
repair type exit.

The system is likely encountering a critical error and
theautomatically restart option has been selected in
the startup andrecovery options.
Right click on My Computer and select
Properties/Advanced Tab/Startup and
Recovery/Settings Button.

Under System Failure, uncheck the Automatically Restart
option. Thiswill allow the error to be displayed when
the problem is encountered.

You need to perform some troubleshooting steps to
try and locate exactly where the problem is coming
from.

Good Luck...Nate P.

In your BIOS use IDE(IDE mode). This lets the Sata drive run without any special drivers. You loose hot swap and native command queuing.
ACHI(Advanced Controller Host Interface) is for things like hot swap and native command queuing(more useful for servers).
If you plan to hot swap drives later then ACHI is a good option, but requires a driver on windows install. You may be able to change it after windows is installed.

Samsung RV515 how do you reboot a laptop?

Oh dear sounds like hard drive failure. When the computer cannot find instructions to load am operating system it asks for them. I think your computer hard disk is given up the ghost which I'd where it would normally load the boot information. The boot information is the operating system like Windows. There are ways to check the hard disk I do hope you had back ups though.

My asus desktop with windows vista will not start up. I keep getting a black screen that tells me reboot and select proper boot device or insert media? What is wrong?

It means your system is trying to boot from somewhere other than your hard drive. Make sure you don't have a CD in the CD/DvD Drive. Also when you boot your system pay close attention to which key it says you can hit to change the boot sequence or boot order and which key it says you can select to go into the Bios or Setup. Boot the system the go into the BIOS or Setup. Go to the tab that allows you to select your boot order. Make sure your Hard Drive is selected as the first boot device. Try rebooting after saving and making this change.
