I have replaced my touchpad twice. Apparently there is a design flaw in
the stove and a heat shield kit should be installed. See the following

Whirlpool paid for the heat shield kit and control pad even after warranty expired. Be persistant and ask to escalate claims to Whirlpool's "Consumer Affairs Board".

I had a tech come out and look at mine and he told me that the F1-8 means a faulty touchpad. He wanted nearly $600 to fix it. I had already taken mine apart and put it back together so I knew it wasn't a really tough fix. A little challenging but possible for anyone that is a handyman or woman. I found the touch pad online for $230 and just completed a successful installation in about 1 hour. Unfortunately, the repairman said that you have to purchase the entire front piece - the metal panel where the touchpad is imbedded. Once I removed the panel, I pulled the touchpad off and it had a price tage of $26 and a part number, so now i'm looking online to see if you can purchase just the touchpad. At any rate, even if the touchpad can be purchased separately, you still have to remove the front panel to install it so that you can plug the ribbon cable in.
I got a new Jenn Air slide in downdraft range last year in August and today my the left side of the touch pad does not work. The right side and the the top keys (Timer 1 and Timer 2) are working. The bottom is not working. Is this due to the panel failure? If so, what approx did it cost you guys to get this paren replaced? Was the process to claim warranty simple? Just today, I have been reading nightmare stories on Jenn Air customer support.
Just letting everyone know that my jenn-air 8113P752-60 touch pad has failed twice. I believe there must be a design flaw relating to the heat of the oven. I'll bet the heat shield solution is the way to go,though I haven't tried it yet.Shame on you Maytag.
Piani, have the tech check the temp sensor. The information I have shows the F1-8 as an option or sensor input failure which, I assume, could be the temp sensor; they are not detailed on this. If you had a F1-3, I would suspect a shorted key as the sub-code 3 indicates a shorted key. As stated above, the subcode 8 indicates either a option or sensor input failure. F1 also monitors an over temp condition that is a result from bad sensor or charred connection. Catriver...post back.

I was told to replace the touch pad assembly first. Before I tried this I did the reset procedure which did not work. Then I read a post from a fella who is a tech and dismantled the pad and membrane. He claimed that there was a manufacturing design flaw and the membrane allowed air bubbles which caused the whacky beeping and error message.
He suggested poking tiny holes in each touch key. I did this with a very pointy and sharp knife. Guess what............... it worked........ so far so good. 24 hours and no problem. Thank you sir....... (can't find your post or name but thank you).
The E7 fault code is telling you the electronic range control (ERC) is detecting a problem with one or more key on the touchpad. This fault code can be caused by a defective touchpad or the ERC.
To determine which part is bad you need a technician to test the touchpad with an ohm meter. If the touchpad is good the ERC will need to be replaced.

we have a jenn aire dual-fuel downdraft range whose touch pad has now failed four times. each time, at first, a few keys on the lower left fail, then, a few weeks later, they all fail and we get the panel replaced (again).
I was running my oven through the clean cycle and when I came home the F1-8 error was showing. Has anyone ever had this problem before?
I had this problem too and after the 3rd replacement on warranty the technician added a load of pink fiberglass insulation as much as he could stuff around the keypad and everywhere he could stop heat from getting to the keypad and this has worked. It's been about 2 years since he did that. The problem was the heat was distorting the panel so some of the touch buttons were being depressed or not at all.
If anyone else has tried this let everyone know.
