Does your drive make any unusual sounds like any of these: http://datacent.com/hard_drive_sounds.php ?
If yes then you got a problem - it's something mechanical with the heads and it's not something you can fix by yourself.
If it sounds normal or doesn't spin up at all - try to connect it to another computer and if still no go - remove the internal drive from enclosure and connect directly to PC via SATA port.

You will need to use software to try to recover the data or send it to data recovery company.

One of the most popular software tolls would be EasyRecovery but there are more

Lacie extern. hard drive is recognized, but I can't access files

Try connecting the Lacie to another computer, if it doesn't work then the hard disk may need to be formatted using Disk Manager. I suggest you format as a primary partition in FAT32.
If it doesn't work then it is possible that the hard drive in the Lacie has failed.
To test the hard drive, remove it and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If it deosn't detect it as an external drive and you connot open folders and files then it is faulty.
You can install a new hard drive in the Lacie and then format in FAT32
There are companies that can recover data from faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

LaCie F.A. Porsche Hard Drive is no longer recognized

I was able to acces the hard drive again, by replacing the cable that goes from the hard drive to the computer. Once I did that, there was no problem with the connection.

However, some of the data seems to be corrupted or lost. Still trying to sort that out, but I did retrieve most of it.

LaCie Hard Drive, FA Porsche model

If the disk is FULL then you have used all the space, this is not uaually a fault but you may need to look at the data on there and delete any old stuff you dont need. IF you need it all then you should buy a larger capacity drive.

use "my computer" to see the drives connected to your PC. The lacie should be easily identified by it's name. Double click on the drive and you can explore the files/folders.

Lacie 120GB dropped

If you open it up you will see that the drive is a regular computer drive. You should be able to plug it into a computer as a secondary drive and try to get the data off. But if it's clicking and making noises there may be no hope. Sorry!
