Hi, I've a small problem cocerning this dv-363 player. I accidentally set it to 'progressive'. Now I cannot undo. I tried holding the buttons on remote and on machine itself, still not working, can you...

Progressive Scan is a menu option relating to video output of this player. Assuming you have the original DVD remote, this should be easy.

* From the user manual (pages 50-51 of the pdf document):

About progressive scan video
Compared to interlace video, progressive
scan video effectively doubles the scanning
rate of the picture, resulting in a very stable,
flicker-free image. Progressive scan video is
available only from the component video
output.

If you connect a TV that is not compatible
with a progressive scan signal and switch
the player to progressive, you will not be
able to see any picture at all. In this case,
switch everything off and reconnect using
the supplied video cable (see Easy
connections on page 14), then switch
back to Interlace. Switch the player to
standby then, using the front panel
controls, press STANDBY/ON while
pressing 'back to Interlace.

Hold these 2 buttons together for about 10-15 seconds or so, but only while the player is in standby mode. *

If you have lost the manual, you may be able to download the user guide (as an adobe reader (pdf) document) from:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Pioneer-DV-363-K-DVD-Players-manual/id/385bh937/t/2/

(it will ask you for an email address prior to downloading - use a blank address if possible and enter the security code in the fields then save the document)

If the above suggestion does not switch it back to interlace, you will need a TV with progressive scan function to enable you to access the player's on-screen menu and in 'Initial Settings' 'Video Output' 'Component Out' section, select 'Interlace'. and press OK from remote as required.

Either way, it should NOT require a workshop service, and is simple enough to do at consumer level with the right TV type.

I am stuck in the Progressive Scan Mode on my DVD player & cant get it out of the blue screen. I have tried reseting it & even unplugging the player.

If your TV does not support progressive scan, you won't be able to get out of the blue screen. The only way to solve this issue is to connect the unit to a multistandard TV which has this capability, then in the player's on screen menu, look for anything that would allow you to select either progressive or interlace as its video output (or has progressive on and off feature) - and switch progressive 'off'. This should revert the output back to interlace. Then unplug the combo, reconnect it to your original set, and it should work fine after that.

Not impossible to correct, but a real pain if progressive is selected in a DVD player's output and the TV does not have that feature. Some DVD players have progressive output as a default option in their setup. Reverting it to interlace or turning it off so it matches the TV it is connected to should solve this problem.

I was using my dvd players component outs for a year but my hi def tv died so when I hooked up my old tv to the single video out I can't get any picture out of it. I think I need to get into dvd player set...

If its an old Sony dvd player then check Progressive Scan button at rear or some may have it on front to turn off to get composite video output (yellow video out)
And if it does not have any manual switch for progressive scan then turn off dvd player by pressing power button on its remote control, press 3, 6, 9 on dvd remote and press power to turn dvd player On.
That will turn off / disable progressive scan mode and you will get video output from yellow video out jack.

Turned progressive scan on, can i turn it off without being able

Try these methods for resetting the scan on your dvd."To reset the VIDEO OUTPUT, turn Off the player, turn back On, open the disc tray and press and hold the Stop button on the player for 10 seconds to reset the scan mode." The Reset procedure doesn't seem to work on all versions but you can sometimes get a usable B&W picture allowing you to get to the menu and change the settings by connecting the composite video input of your display to the Red Pr/Cr or Green Y component output jacks on the rear of the cabinet.
You can also go into the Menu and set it blind with the following key presses on the Remote:
1. With the unit Stopped, press Setup.
2. Press Enter.
3. Press the Down Arrow 3 times.
4. Press the Right Arrow Once.
5. Press Enter. Hope this helps you with your problem

player, press the STOP (x) button to stop any disc that is
playing. Next, press the STOP (x) button again and hold it
for five seconds before releasing it. The video output will
be restored to the standard setting, and a picture will once
