SOURCE: .MOD files in Adobe Premiere Pro C3
Adobe Premiere may not be able to recongize JPEG2 (the format the camcorder records in). In this case, you should use a software tool that can change the format of the video (i.e. from JPEG2 to a supported one). Before you do this, you should check Adobe for patches to support this format. Contact them about this problem and they should give you a better, more indepth solution then consulting JVC.

I referenced the manual, and with the help from David at a local 1 hour photo shop, he helped me rename the files correctly and copied them and moved them to the EXMOV folder and back on the camera.

How to convert .MOD file to mpg, avi, wmv and others?
If you got a JVC camcorder, or Panasonic camcorder or Canon MOD camcorder, you would have probably encountered such issue--- what to do with the MOD/TOD files----the God forsaken video format? And you want to convert the recorded .MOD file type to mpeg, avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv or whatever more common, so that you can put them on Youtube, Myspace, Google video and Hulu later on to share the camcorder video with your friends or more people? And there is another headache thing is that most major video editing suites seem to unwillingly accept the MOD/TOD format. Even windows video maker, I have to say it's too complicated to use
Someone successfully made it simply by changing the extension from .mod to mpg, but for most people, they just failed only to find there is no audio after the extension is changed, or the changed one doesn’t allow you to import these files into Windows movie maker, not to mention upload some video to Youtube.com or Facebook.
any alternativs? There is a very simple program that convert .mod NOT ONLY to mpg but many others like avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv, rm, rmvd, mov, dv, mg2 and swf. MOD converter is the one shoot all the trouble. This excellent mod conversion tool is not just a converter but also a video editing tool. From now on, with the MOD converter, you can enjoy your mod video on many media player, even on portable devices like blackberry, Gphone, PSP, Creative Zen,etc.
MOD converter is a package tool, whcih actually includes mod to mpg mod to mp4 mod to avi mod to wmv mod to 3gp mod to mov
Installation or uninstallation of an application or game fails and gives the following error code:
This issue is due to a previous installation not finishing properly
Solution 1. Rename the Installshield folder
Make sure you've enabled Show hidden files and folders.
Find and rename the Installshield folder:
Windows 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Installshield
Windows 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Installshield
If there is an Installshield file in the Common Files folder, rename that one also (e.g. to Installshield_OLD).
Solution 2. Remove all traces of previous uninstall
If renaming the Installshield folder had no effect, find and delete any traces of uninstalled applications.
Applications that can assist you are: Revo Uninstaller, Windows Installer Cleanup Utility , CCleaner.
Alternatively, do a manual clean-up:
Close all running programs. Then clear the Temp folder (found via input of %temp% in Start > Search or Start > Run).
Use the Windows registry editor to delete registry entries related to the program.
Restart the computer.
hope this helps
