THE INK IS NOT FLOWING

TWO OF THE FOUR INKS ARE NOT FLOWING THRU THE TUBES. I REPLACED ALL THE INKS BUT STILL GET A TROUBLESHOOTING MESSAGE. I DON'T ANY FOREIGN SUBSTANCES IN THE MACHINE. I CAN SEE SOME INK IN THE TUBES, THEN SPACE THEN INK, THEN A LOT MORE SPACE . MY PRINTER IS UNABLE TO CLEAN ITSELF.

SOURCE: MFC-5840CN "unable to clean" and "machine code 50"

you have to fix the encoder strip into right position within the ph carrier! do push the head left/right to see if there are waves infront of it. if so, fix the strip into position!

BTW:

If you refill your carts use 2ml glycerol (from drugstore) with 10ml dye-ink: mix well before refilling. For bk use 1,5ml glycerol with 20ml bk dye-ink.

The glycerol prefents the ph/nozzels and tubesystem from drying up!

SOURCE: Printer Head needs removal to clean dried ink

Not a cleanable type head, filiment gets burnt, when ink is not around it when printing is done. Ie dodgy ink blocks lines or has air in it and has permanently stuffed the print head, fix on brothers is replace head, cost excessive.,..time for the bin and the newfound wisdom that inks aint just inks.

Ink empy or no inks is read in ink well compartment via a black flag in ink cartridge that must be up and floating as not to obstuct photocell in well area.. check the rectangler bump in rear middle of cartridge. All cartridges must have flags up ie not empty, seeing ink does not indicate a cartridge with ink, a little is always left to prevent air entering system, hence machine calling out no innk cartridge to prevent damage...

False ink empty

Are you sure its exclamation mark?..
This warning message related to print head. (warn out). When you are replacing ink tube assembly use dummy print heads to do the priming (new ink tubes are empty & they have to fill with ink)..
Action: Remove all cartridges and print heads, switch on the printer follow the screen message.(Insert cartridges first next dummy print heads).once its recognizes cartridges then it switch over to print heads, insert dummy print heads. Once printer recognized the dummy print heads, printer will perform priming, during priming dummy print heads will filled with respective inks.(follow the display message)Remove dummy print heads & insert normal print heads. Wait till printer recognizes print heads, load the paper & wait till performs the calibration, once calibration is successfully done issue closed.
If calibration not successfully done, check align print out for which print head is not printed properly, replace it..
Pl ensure that minimum 50% ink levels required in cartridges before performing the priming. Best of luck..

After converting our 60" HP

Have you tried to revert back to the dye inks?
If that solves the problem, then your UV ink tubes have a bad control board.
(you did change the ink tubes system, printheads and ink ?)
If the error code continues, replace the Main PCA.

"wrong cartridge"- Printer is giving us a "wrong

Hi Sherri

I am having the same problem with my MP780 mine started doing the same thingafter deciding to use Calidad inks the large black ink leaked into the yellowink (stick to canon inks).

What I have done so far with no success -
Replaced the ink cartridges with new ones supplied by Calidad, still the sameproblem.
Removed and cleaned the print heads manually and to my surprize after soakingin warm water and multiple cleanings for over 1hr black ink is still coming outof the yellow ink head.
I still get the same message after all I have tried...

One thing I did manage to do is prime the yellow ink and got it flowing throughthe head again but it's still mixed with black... I wonder if you may have runout of magenta and dried the head...

Try priming the magenta ink by removing the head (don't touch or wet the metalcontacts at the rear, the ink heads are on the bottom) place on a clean lintfree cloth (or I just used damp tissues then dry tissues) you should get onelong black strip and two cyan, two magenta and two yellow strips on the tissue,if you do not then try priming by replacing the magenta cartridge and gentlypumping the cartridge up and down repeat until you get the ink flowing.

Replace the head and cartridges, press ok, turn the printer off then reset.

Let me know if it works or if you come up with another solution that works as Iam still trying to figure out how to fix mine.

Good luck

Ive replaced black ink cart but it doesnt work, still the message check ink u163 on th LCD.thank you

Either the new ink is a generic cartridge and not reset properly, or one of the other inks is empty. Your display should tell you which ink is empty. U163 just says that one of the inks is empty.

My Brother MFC-5840CN says ''no cartridge'' but there is a cartridge. My ink is generic, is there any way to make it work? Sometimes when I reinstall the ink the message switches to ''magenta (etc.) low''...

On one side of your inks you will see a semi clear window that you can see the ink thru. When you insert your cartridge there is a horseshoe shaped sensor that looks thru that window. If you cut a small piece of electrical tape and fit it over that window on the cartridge your machine will think the ink is full. Be careful not to run them dry or you get a bubble that is hard to clear.

I have four flashing orange lights on the printer after changing the ink cartridges

Four flashes on a Canon says that ink is empty, you may have defective inks, or generic inks that are not reset properly.

I was half way through printing when my printer stopped and a message popped up saying my ink wasnt compatible. I am using genuine epson ink. I've replaced it and it's still not working. I have tried...

Try this. Turn on printer. It will red light on. Push ink button (1-4 times) depend on number of chip that ot recognized. Push 1 time. carriage will move to gap. wait for 10 seconds. Push again 1 time.

Ink problem with Brother Fax 1860C

The machine detects the ink by shining a light through the rib in one edge of the ink cartridge. Apparently yellow is close enough to nothing at all, that the sensors get a little out of whack. Here's how to reset the sensors:
  1. Get a dinner plate or something to set the ink cartridges on, that won't absorb ink, and is easy to wash.
  2. Unplug the machine's power.
  3. Open the machine and remove all four inks, setting them on the plate.
  4. Close the machine.
  5. Plug in power.
  6. The machine will begin it's start-up procedure and complain about the missing inks. It will tell you to replace one specific ink first (black, I think).
  7. Follow the instructions on the display, installing one ink color at a time. When all four inks are in, it should be OK.
Use Brother inks. They have a little black floater in that rib, and some of the aftermarket inks have had a problem with the floater sticking.
There may be another problem causing this. The ink may really be low, or the sensor board may be off its mounts in the machine. But the routine above is quick & easy, and it fixes the problem more than half the time. You can't run without any of the colors, because that means air bubbles are getting into the ink tubes, and that can lead to dried ink blocking the nozzles.
This is unrelated, but when you peel the sealing tape from the bottom of the ink ctg., do it slowly. Brother has found that sometimes, when you strip the tape off too fast, a little glue remains stuck in the nozzle, blocking it. If that happens, dig the glue out carefully with a pin & it will be fine.
