This camera sat for a month, I tried to turn it on, but it would not do anything. I put in new batteries, and took out the memory card, still nothing. Can you help me please.
I recharged the Sony batteries. It didn't work. I tried fresh batteries, still nothing. I press the power button and the power light and orange flash indicator light flicker, but nothing happens.I recharged the Sony batteries. It didn't work. I tried fresh batteries, still nothing. Does this happen when you use the power adapter? Try using the power adapter one time to fire the camera up, then switch to battery power and see if that works.

Do you mean your Nikon D80 battery haven't bean used for 4 months and you store it with no power?
If so you battery maybe has been't damaged. Over discharge is heavy damage for Li-ion batteries. And when you store it with no power and for a so long time...
You need to store it at 40% charger and at a cool but no cold place.
Cold and hot are the killers of Li-ion batteries
Remove the batteries. Remove the memory card.
Install batteries only, paying close attention to inserting correctly. (Possible one was put in wrong.)
Does it start?
Yes - Power off. Insert memory card. Power on. Does it work? Memory card may be defective. Try formatting it.
If cam does not power on, return it under warrenty for replacement or refund. Or warrenty repair..
Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can
prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera.
Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and
wipe the camera contacts firmly with
a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush,
steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen
into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of
the batteries, place them back in the camera and give them a good
charge (assuming that you're using rechargeable batteries). This
cleaning clears
the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have
a problem that requires professional repair.
Not all batteries are created equal, especially in digital cameras. Try lithium ion batteries (Energizer Advanced or Duracell PowerPix) or quality NiMH rechargable batteries. Regular alkalines, especially some of the cheaper ones, are not recommended regardless of what the manual says.
Since you didn't use it for a long time, you are sure you didn't leave any batteries inside the camera for that long. If you did the batteries will most likely have leaked out inside the camera, and caused internal damage. One tell tale sign is that when you took out the old batteries it would be oily or the battery is bloateds. In light of this, I suggest that you clean the battery compartment out, most especially the metal connectors, since that can also be cause of not getting a power and the camera not working at all.
Did you also use HIGH CAPACITY ALKALINE BATTERIES (Energizer e2 or something similar to that) right? Try a different batteries. Since digital camera's require these types of batteries to even run. If you put regular batteries in there, it won't turn on the camera at all even if the batteries are new. If the camera also has a reset switch/button you can also try to do that. Most camera's have this kind of switch. So you may have to check the manual of your camera on this one. If you don't have one you can download it here: http://www.samsungcamera.com/customer/download/cus_down_main.asp?key=401
The only other thing I can think off is did the camera came with an AC adapter? If it does, try using that instead and see of the camera can turn on using it's AC adapter. If it does, it's possible there is damage in the battery compartment connectors.
I heard from another posting on here and the answer, that someone took fine sandpaper and cleaned off the terminal ends of both battery and camera and blew out the dust particles from that before replacing the battery, then then camera worked. I have yet to try it with my Kodak camera that is 2 years old and suddenly died too! The batteries are fine and work in other cameras.
I used mine for 1 month & took 300+ pictures, loaded them to my PC. Took 10 pictures over a weeks time & while reviewing them, the camera powered off. I replaced the batteries, tried the "charged" recharchable set & the thing wont power up.WTF!!! .....the **** part is, we're broke & have a baby due any day.....we won't get pictures of our newborn.......signed - upset with Kodak....
well hard to answer but i suppose you use nimh batteries if now work vist your nearest service center also clean the contacts inside
little help i hope thx ake
