DVD HO1 error, and tray is jammed - how do i change the mode to External Port (iPod)?
When i power on, the tray pops open, the light says Hello->Init->DVD HO1 error, and the lights go off. However, when i press the Open/Close button, the lights come back on and repeat the sequence of messages, the tray closes and pops open, and the lights go off again.
I'd like to use the external port (iPod), even if the DVD player is jammed - Is there a quick way to change the mode to External Port/iPod, without an extensive servicing of the DVD sub-system (which seems to be a mechanical issue)? I'd like to use the iPod mode.

It means that there's a misaligned disk inside. You need to
1. Unplug it and shake it side-to-side. 2. Then turn it on and press the open/close. 3. If it doesn't open, goto step 1. 4. When it opens, get the disks out, use disk exchange to try to get them all out. 5. Turn it off, unplug it, shake it again and make sure that there isn't another loose disk, if there is, then open it and get it out.
This is a known flaw in certain Panasonic DVD changers. Good luck
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was ready to go to the store and buy new unit (as this one is now "old") but after taking the over off I found that not only were the discs dislodged, but one was actually wedged inside the machine. Took them out, hooked it back up and GOOD AS NEW! :)Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have no DVDs in my player. I have been getting the init code but was able to use the radio. Now I have this exact same sequence as the above poster and their is nothing in the player. I can't find anything online about the meaning of the HO 1 error or anything that isn't jibberish about how to realign the tray.I have no DVDs in my player. I think it might be H: Hardware 01: Error number one, something physically stopping the motor that spins the trays around. Just a guess.I think it might be H: Hardware 01: Error number one, something physically stopping the motor that spins the trays around. Just a guess.
In any case, if you don't get anything out after flipping the thing upside down and moving it around fairly forcefully with your hands about 5 times(5 iterations of the above 1-3 steps), then you could open it up and see what's inside. That's what I'd do, either that or just get a new one. This beast likes to get a couple of DVD's jammed against each other inside. In any case, if you don't get anything out after flipping the thing upside down and moving it around fairly forcefully with your hands about 5 times(5 iterations of the above 1-3 steps), then you could open it up and see what's inside. That is one of the biggest problems with these Chines made drives. Cheap parts and they burn out in no time. You have a button up from , but when you push it all you may hear is Click Click. The thrusting drive motor that send the tray out goes bad and all you can do from there is manually open and close the unit. Look for the small (tiny) hole up front. Insert a paper clip end into the hole and push hard to pop open the tray. To get it working, push the tray in and it will function. You just won't have an automatic open/close. For $30 replace it. OR Get an external CD/DVD clam shell that fits into the USB port of the computer. Walmart has them for $35
If your laptop has a DVD drive power laptop on, look to the right or left side of laptop you should find a rectangle button in the center of larger rectangle press on it and tray should pop open. Some software programs have a eject on the screen click on tab and tray should pop open, good luck.

Straighten a paper clip and insert it into a tiny hole in the face if the disc tray. Push the paper clip gently in the hole and the tray will pop out slightly. Then grab the tray and pull it out until you can remove the DVD disc.
I am getting this error too and I believe it means that somehow the tray that the discs ride on is jammed. I think if you unscrew the three screws on the back and the two on the sides you can pop the top off and see the tray. I bet there is a disc somewhere that didn't fall back into its right spot and it will give you that error... I just opened mine up and sure enough there was a DVD that was in the way... I removed that disc and the error went away. I hope that helps you out as well.
there may be two screws on the top of the tray that holds the rounded magnet, the one that is placed to hold the disc when spinning, remove it, you can then simply take the disc out.
