My Ti89 is locked. I cannot seem to get this error code off of my screen. The error msg say's ESC = Cancel, but ESC does nothing. HELP
Without performing a hard reset, you can avoid implied multiplication and insert a multiplication sign (*) between a variable and a function. For example if you enter xsin(x) you must insert the multiplication sign (*) and write x*sin(x), otherwise the calculator will assume that xsin( is a function. It will look for it and not finding it, will send an error message. Similarly, if you want to enter x times y or some othervariable, you must insert the multiplication sign, x*y

SOURCE: How do I find logarithms on the ti89?
For natural logarithms, you can use the ln function (2ND shift of the X key). For example, the natural logarithm of 3 is 2ND [LN] 3 ) ENTER.
For logarithms to other bases, use the log function (diamond shift of the 7 key). For example, the base-2 logarithm of 16 is diamond 7 1 6 , 2 ) ENTER. If the base is 10 (common logarithms), you can omit the comma and the second argument.

I have fixed the problem by doing as the manual suggests. I simultaniously pressed the (-) key and the ) key while taking a battery out and putting it back in. This reset my calculator.
