Toshiba LCD 37" with gray band and blue line

Our LCD TV recently had the appearance on the left side of the screen with the 2-3 in. gray band with a blue line in the middle.  I called a TV tech, but would like an idea of what I'm dealing with.  The TV is only 2 years old.

I have the same problem only with an Toshiba 37HLC56 LCD monitor. It's a gray band on the right side of the set. One techie from Sears said it was customer abuse but I know that's not it as we've tried to watch everything in full screen mode. My research shows it may be a defective panel but no one will acknowledge that.

Unfortunately you are right it is the display panel going bad. You can either live with it or buy you a new tv as the panels usually cost as much or more than the tv. Sorry.

My Insignia NS LCD 37 will power up but the screen is gray and there is an even lighter gray bar going up and down but no picture

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

Small green line on right side of screen

This is an easy fix using the Philips remote control that came with your tv. On the center of the remote is a dial that has left right up down controls. Stand in front of the tv and using those controls you can recenter the screen and get rid fo the green line. I had same problem when we hooked up hd satellite reciver to philips 37 plasma

Vertical band appeared after just 6 weeks for no apparent reason. It shows a side section of the picture in mirror image form and is directly down the centre of the screen

the problem here is the Lcd controler or T-con board. The problem is Toshiba does not alway sell the board seperately you may have to buy the complete LCD panel Call toshiba Tech support or check on their web site for you particular model

Transparent blue band

THIS IS MOST LIKELY TERMINAL. YOU NEED A NEW PANNEL. YOU CAN TRY TO TAKE OFF THE BACK COVER AND RESEAT ALL THE RIBBON CABLES THAT GO TO THE PANNEL. IF THIS DOSEN'T FIX IT, BUY A NEW TV.
