Yes! I have come across the odd case where the magnetron was intermittent, fortuneately it is rare because this type of problem is very difficult to nail down.
The magnetron may be intermittent or the keypad control board is the problem. My recommendation is to use it until it finally fails and go out and buy a new microwave oven, "more cost effective"
That is a possibility but there other parts that can come into play, a bad magnetron " filiment sometimes opens" high voltage diode " sometimes cracks and developes a high level short, and finally the high voltage capacitor " will normally short" I do recommend a professional in this case.
Hello there: It sounds normal, but there's no heatWhen
the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal
door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have
a problem. To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a
qualified appliance repair technician.
Many
over-the-range microwave ovens suffer from intermittent problems caused
by excessive moisture from the range/stove entering the microwave
cabinet and collecting on the circuitry. Often the problem is with one
or two simple connections that may need tightening or soldering. But, to
repair these components, the microwave cabinet needs to be opened. So
we recommend that you seek the assistance of a qualified appliance
repair technician.
Doug, not not attempt repairs on your m/wave unless you have had training.
When you take off the cover even with the plug turned off, their is still charge inside the m/wave which could kill you!
sounds like the magnetron may be faulty, get your approved engineers to carry out a' power check' on the magnetron etc,
