Home theater system keeps powering off and will not turn back on until it feels like it...

Randomly turning off at intermittent times and only powering back on when it feels like it.. any ideas what the problem could be?

Oh, and the standby light on the amp stays on so there is definitely power running to the unit but it is not powering the DVD station

it's in a climate controlled room so if it is overheating it must be due to internal issues

I have a RCA RT2911 1000-Watt HDMI Home Theater System. It keeps shutting off after 20 minutes, of being powered on.

If this is actually 20 minutes each time, then you could have an auto power off option applied.
If it switches off at a random time after say 20 minutes, then it could be caused by a overheating problem. If the System has a fan make certain it has room to operate, that nothing is blocking it. Also check all speakers and cables for faults.
If the device is overheating you should be able to feel it!

My SC BT100 is perfect until I use the IPOD dock, it works ok for 10mins but then 'blows'. the unit becomes very hot and wont turn back on until it has cooled down.

You are overpowering the Amplifier and it is protecting itself until it cools down.

The reason for this is that the output from the IPOD is already pre-amplified. If it didn't shut down you would either blow the Amplifier or Speakers.

If you keep the volume turned down to a minimum on your IPOD and use the volume control on your theater system you should be OK but still don't turn the theater system to full output.

Please leave feedback.

I just bought a new kenwood cd player from autozone it is installed correctly but when i turn the volume over 22 it shuts off until i turn the volume down what is wrong?

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

My system power is intermittent. Won't turn on at times.

Make sure all cords are properly connected if so then their might be a problem with the wiring... try moving the wiring up and down, and see if the power turns on when you do that.....

I keep getting the 'rear check' message on the tower panel display and all cables are connected what could this be this is on my new HT-TXQ120 DVD HOME THEATER SYSTEM

With the home theater system off, press and hold the REMAIN button on the home theater's remote control for 5 seconds.
Note: You can release the REMAIN button when the POWER LED blinks blue.

With the wireless module turned on, use a ball point pen to press the RESET button on the back of the wireless module. The POWER LED in the front of the home theater blinks two times.

Turn on the home theater. The LINK LED on the front of the SWA-3000 changes from red to blue, indicating the wireless module has connected to the home theater.

If your home theater continues to display rear check after you have tried the steps above, call Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864). Have your model number and serial number on hand to set up service.

Once your turn off the plasma TV, you cannot turn it back on until it cools down

No. If it's a Plasma, you can turn it off and on at will. If it's an LCD, that is true, and Sony's won't let you turn them back on. You would see the power led flashing. Once the LCD bulb cools down then it will turn back on. Hope this helps
