Samsung RS2555SL Not Cooling/Compressor won't start and cycles.

Jonathan is the solution!
It has been 24 hours since my fridgerator has started with the occasional clicking then not cooling. I started on the google hunt and found this website with Jonathan's post. I am a 26 year old female stay at home mom of 2 toddlers. I printed the page of Jonathans success and took it to my local parts store. I purchased the Mars start relay for 16 bucks. I pulled the refrigerator out from the wall and took the back apart and followed Jonathans instructions and I had success. You are a savior! I could never afford a repair man. Thank you so much for your post!!!

To help others, I note that the hardest part of the repair was taking off the black plastic cover. I could not wiggle it off, and tried to release the clasps, but in the end had to force it off breaking parts, and hurting my hand. Below are some pix that may help you understand how to remove it.

You're the BEST!!! This worked like a charm. I couldn't locate either the Samsung DA35-10013Q or the Mars 32330 but one of the people I contacted told me that the Supco IC102 was a substitution. It too has 4 terminals. I used the top pair of terminals. I popped it in and wala FIXED... My cost $8.55 + tax. Under 10 bucks!

Ordered the part, and to my amazement it was delivered the very next day, from AppliancePartsPro.com. $14total including shipping.

The repair guy wasn\'t due until the next day, so I tackled it the night before, after clearing/dumping out about $500 worth of spoilage. Pushed out the fridge, unfastened the bottom back plate. One the bottom left, you\'ll see the big compressor, to it\'s LEFT, you\'ll see a black box about 4x3inches in size; it\'s clipped pretty strongly, so you\'ll have to jiggle jiggle jiggle until it comes undone. after you remove this cover, you\'ll see the relay. jiggle it back and forth, as it is attached via to round prongs. after that remove the wires off the old relay and attach them in the same order (to the same number--- essentially fool-proof) to the new relay. plug the relay back into the the prongs on the compressor, reattached the black plastic box. and replug the fridge back in!!!

There you\'re done... and you just saved a few $hundred dollars. I\'m certain the repair guys would never know to check the relay, as they go straight for changing out the compressor.

One thing the scared me after the relay was swapped out, was the fridge sides and center post became super hot.. i thought maybe there was another issue. I think that\'s just the heating coils in those areas, so the doors and sides do not produce condensation.

after 12hours the ice came.. the doors were cool, the fridge working like I left it.

I purchased a Samsung side by side refrigerator; model RS2533sSW/XAA in 2003 and it stopped working in Jan. 2011. I pulled the refrigerator out and removed the back panel to see what was wrong. I unplugged and re-plugged the power again. The fan turned on and then the compressor relay clicked and stopped after about 20 second and stopped. the same thing repeat over and over again. The compressor was very hot to the touch. I thought it was the running capacitor went. So I bought a new one and plugged in still not work. I have call Samsung and setup in home service to have it fix. They told me that it will cost $100 for diagnostic and $100 flat rate labor plug cost of the part. That will cost at least $250 for the repair. So I did some online search and found Jonathan75 's post on Oct 31, 2008. He has exactly same problem as I had with mine.

I replaced the relay that was on the side of the compressor with a used part that I removed from other refrigerator with little modification. It works when I plugged in. I know that might not be the right part for it, but at least I know that wasn't the compressor went. I found the original replacement part DA35-10013Q from Samsung parts website. https://samsungparts.com I paid $8.95 plus shipping. I will put the original when I receive it. Saved me from paying $$$ to service person, thanks a lot Jonathan!!!

Thanks Jonathan! Our 6-1/2 year old RS2555SL quit on us last weekend. There's only one Samsung authorized service center in LA. I ended up ordering the DA35-10013Q relay online at encompassparts.com for $6 + $7.50 UPS ground shipping. Since it shipped out of LV, it was here the next day!

A couple of additional notes:
1) The relay cover mentioned by litosandiego was a REAL PAIN to remove considering there's not a whole lot of room to work with. There are three retaining "clips" (one on top and one on each side) holding it in place. Apparently they're disengaged by somehow lodging something through each of the three slots on the cover. After trying unsuccessfully with my motley assortment of on-hand "tools" (nail clipper handle, Swiss Army knive, screwdriver, hammer, letter opener...), I was determined to simply break the cover off. I did however manage to pry it off after much effort. Anyway, just be CAREFUL not to damage anything else in the process, or else you'll be in really BAD SHAPE!

2) When testing the relay at room temperature, it's supposed to read a short across terminals 5 & 6. I was getting a little resistance which was apparently enough to prevent it from starting up the compressor.

Kudos! $13.50 + ~$100 in spoiled food vs. $$ for a repair man or $$$ for a new fridge. Thanks again!

This is STILL helping people in 2017. Samsung RS2533SW fixed today for $18 and an hour drive. As someone else mentioned, the NEW part registers a short across the terminals at room temp, while the old part registers about 700 ohms. Old one clicked loudly, new one does not. THANK YOU Jonathan!

You should also change the run capacitor along with the relay. If not, you may have another failure. The capacitor should be located by the circuit board which is under a panel just above the compressor on the back wall.

Wow! Thanks Jonathan! My fridge went out yesterday. Came across this post, called an appliance store, got the exact part for $8.12 after tax. Just put it in, compressor kicked in and fridge is starting to cool. Thanks for the great article! Dave in AZ.

I too have a RS2555SL purchased in 2003, had the same problem you indicated. The relay cost me $11 and am thinking of ordering another in case this happens again. The relay broke on a Friday and we couldn't order until a Monday. Better safe than sorry.

Jonathan75 - I appreciate that you posted this. My RS2555 started getting loud ... I ignored it ... then the 'fridge side was about 58 degrees! I rebooted it and then I had an old school ice box. I searched and searched - found your post and ordered some parts ASAP.
