Blank Image on Scan

Loaded fresh driver onto my Microsoft XP system and anything I scan comes out blank. I've tried different settings (full auto, professional with different scan "densities") all to no avail. Anyone experience this and have a solution?? Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't help the situation. I guess I have a dead scanner. It's weird because I can see the light scanning through the image so I don't know what could be bad....

After so many year with the same problem, I have tried almost everything, and finally found this may related with static electricity in the scanner. My solution now is that whenever I meet this problem, I make a towel wet and squeeze out the dripping water, and then cover the scanner for sometime, maybe one hour or more. After that, the scanner can work mostly. I'm not an expert on circuit, hope someone else can find out the component responsible for this, and finally solve this problem.

I just had this problem too I followed everybody's advice.
It worked... but I think the real culprit had to do with a short in the wiring between the top and bottom parts of the scanner.
I switched the usb and that didnt work and it was worse...the software didnt recognize the scanner at all after that so I pressed the usb cable in snugly...which I already had done before...this time I pressed the other cables, one inside the lid, and one inside the bottom scanner(so it forced their connection even more????who knows why this might work) between the lid and scanner and tried to preview with the epson software and IT WORKED!!!!
My guess is there is some kind of weird short occuring in the connection wiring...that must occur eventually after opening and closing the scanner so many times...

problem recap: So the software was seeing the scanner when this problem started...but not creating a picture.
I downloaded the latest driver didnt make a difference...
I restarted scanner & computer.& reconnect USB.blah blah - all those newbie IT tech tricks...didnt work..
I replaced the USB cable with another cable...didnt have any effect...
it wasnt until I started pressing the wirings that connect the two parts of the scanner together did the thing start to act normal.
that was it...the last solution based on HAIL MARY THEORY WORKED... ....I love computers...
finally I tried the old usb cable...and that works now...so now I know it wasnt the USB cable!!!

you can also check in control panel and make sure that you don't have any other scanner software set as default. Also check the web site for drivers and updates.

How to Clean Computer from Viruses

Sometimes your computer might get to the point that you won't be able to do anything on it because it's infected with viruses and trojans. This is one of the worst infections you can get and you need to follow these steps in order to get rid of the infected files.

1. Download Hiren's Boot CD from a different computer if your doesn't work http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/Hirens.BootCD.12.0.zip

2. Burn it on a CD and then put the CD into the computer full with viruses

3. Boot from CD when prompted and from the CD menu select Mini XP which will load a mini copy of Windows XP onto your machine

4. After Windows has loaded, go to Hiren's Boot CD menu and from menu select Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

5. Once Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is loaded, run a clean on your computer. This will temporary and hopefully forever will remove some of the trojans and the rogue antivirus

6. When the scan is finished click to remove the infected files and restart your computer. Don't forget to take out the CD

7. From the other computer download a FREE antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials from this link http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

8. Install it on the infected machine. Upon restart you will be able to do this, although the computer may be still infected. After installation of Microsoft Security Essentials, run a full computer scan to clean any infected files that weren't already removed
I can't scan different document sizes (A3 and A4) in one batch with the Canon 9080C.

IF you are using CapturePerfect 3. version, you can select "Auto detection" for page size, and under 'more' select 'image size' instead of guide plate. Also you may have to select option '1' under user code U10 in case you want to scan pages over 17 inches long. (Press Newfile and Countonly simultaneously, press 'newfile' till you get U10, press 'countonly' and select 1. This will enable scanning upto 1 meter long).
CP3 has "Skip Blank page option", this helps you to automatically delete blank pages on the back side and scan only those with data.

Unable to input a destination for the Button Settings Tab

Even if the printer installs OK, the scanner is not allways recognized. Try to look for new hardware>scanners in Control Panel. It migth want the HP CD or the driver from www.HP,com. Or find a picture editing program and File>Import>HP officejet Pro L 7590 AIO- twain! That works!

Windows xp virus problem-windows will not boot up

XP Antivirus 2008 is one of the latest counterfeit antispyware that devastates the wolrd wide web. XP Antivirus 2008 usually come up after you installed a video codec that come with Trojan, malware and virus. XP Antivirus 2008 normally generates fake and misleading system popup error messages so end-users will be tricked into purchase XP Antivirus 2008.

This is one of the warnings from the net about this program.

a system restore with disks or a full reinstall may be in your future.... reboot and tap f8 and then boot to safe mode.... does that work ?

Blank Scan from HP Scanjet 5590 Flatbed Auto Feed

Scanning is possible in 'Text' mode and 'Picture' Mode. In text mode, which is simple 'Black & White", this can happen, particulalrly if the text is in color. Either you increase the contrast settings or scan the document in Grey/color and convert it to B&W using the software. By this you need not check if there is output!. ( I am assuming that otherwise the scanner is performing okay). File size in B&W is very small as compared to Grey/color.
