Unplug the player from the wall receptical for thirty minutes, if we are lucky this will reset the microcontroller ic chip and re-initalize the system. If this fails cheaper to replace the DVD Player.

My sony dav-hdx475 has no sound and just displays please wait

I have a Sony DAV HDX465 S-Master that showed "please wait" when I switched it on. This could mean a stuck DVD tray. Unplug the power cord. Open the top of the unit (9 screws). Plug the power cord back. Wear insulated gloves if you feel safer doing so. Reach into the DVD tray and try to "jiggle" the plastic tab that slides forward and backward. Do not touch the circuit board. Occasionally punch the eject button while continuing to jiggle the DVD tray. Once you hear the drawer move, the stuck DVD will be ejected and all the unit's functions will return to normal.

Cassette is stuck. Cannot eject

Sounds like the tape is dragging and the spindle wont release it because of the torque on it. Can you rewind or fast forward to see if it releases?

A VHS tape is in the recorder but will not eject. The flap opens when eject key is pressed, the cassette comes up, does not come forward, and then goes back down. The recorder then switches itself off.

Hi, the problem is the tape has got chewed up inside the video the only way your going to get it out is by taking the case of but dont do this whilst its plugged in.

you need to take the tape off and you may have to cut the tape so you can put the case back on and switch it on so the tape will eject, you need to get what ever is keeping it stuck free, the chances are the tape has got chewed up around the drive and this will need cutting free to allow the tape to come out.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks.

you could try fast forwarding a bit or rewinding a bit then try ejecting but failing that your going to need to take the case off to free the tape

We had no control of the DVD that we watched last night. No pause, fast forward, etc. Tonight, trying to watch another DVD and the one from last night continues to be playing and will not eject. Neith

Sometimes when you unplug the set ffrom the wall power or a while 1-2 minutes, and then plug it back in the problem will resolve itself. The DVD may eject. If it does, check it for damage, warping or dirt. If this does not fix it- you probably should take it to a repair center.

Will not display picture or eject tape.

most of no signal means dsr 11 or similar machines have dirty heads. When they get dirt sometimes, you can´t play a cassette and the machine turns off (with the cassette in).
I´ve tried several times to reload the cassette and I manage to make it work again.
with the cassette in and the machine off press at the same time power and fast forward.
When in fast forward press play and your head should be starting to be clean (takes 4 o 5 minutes
to get a clean picture). Normally the machine gives a code error like if it was a loading problem but
not nearly related

Tape Problem

When a VCR eats a tape, it can be cause by a couple things.

1. There is a rubber wheel called a "pincher wheel" that compresses the tape against the "capstan". The capstan is a shiny metal spindle connected to a motor. The pincher wheel can become worn and/or dirty (slick) from the oxide coating off of the tape. You can try cleaning the pincher wheel and capstan with alcohol or try using a re-grip solution on the pincher wheel. Last thing to do is replace the pincher wheel. Look to see that the pincher wheel is doing its job by pulling the tape through. The pincher wheel & capstan are not used during a fast forward or fast rewind, so if your tape is getting caught during the FF or RW and not Play, it's probably not related to capstan & pincher wheel.

2. There is a small tire wheel called an idler tire. This tire pivots between the sending and pickup reels of the player. Its also used during fast forward & rewind as well as play. If the tire is worn, the tape won't be wound up as fast on the take-up reel as the sending reel during play. This means more tape is coming out of the cassette than can be wound up on the takeup reel. You can try using a re-grip solution on the idler tire or replace it.

3. There's also a brake pad that is designed to grab and stop the tape wheels from spinning when you hit stop. If those pads are worn, the wheels will not stop fast enough and the tape will continue to feed (spool) out of the cassette and not be taken up by the other wheel.

So when when you hit eject, the excess tape that should have been wound up tight in the cassette before the eject sequence, is getting caught inside the player.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

Jsi js4110

The only operations available on the JSI JS4110 without a remote are play, pause, stop, and eject. Since this DVD player "remembers" position of the movie, a different DVD would have to be inserted and played to start that movie over from the beginning. As for fast-forward, this is only available with the remote.

The DVD (JVC NV-410) is stuck on pause with a DVD inside of it. It won't open, the power can't be turned off, and the play, menu, rewind, fast forward, etc... functions are triggering anything. Please...

Greetings lwilly,

I would suggest fully unplugging the unit for roughly an hour. This should reset the unit.

Once you plug it back in, I would first try and eject the disc before attempting anything else.

Hope this helps
