Hi burwellkaren - Is the washer making a humming noise? If so, either the drainage hose or pump is clogged and needs cleaning. If not, then the unit may possibly be experiencing an issue with the control board not communication correctly, faulty pump, timer, door lock assembly or something more severe like a damaged tub. I will personally recommend contacting a certified technician to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause.

E20 is not an exact error code. It's indicating a possible pump out problem. Here is a few possible causes of an E20 error code:

1. Restriction in the drain pump

2. Failed pump

3. Water not pumping out fast enough (crimped drain hose)

4. Too many suds ( too much detergent or wrong kind)

5. Pressure switch (not communicating with control board)

6. Loose wire at pressure switch

7. Loose wire at pump or control board

8. Failed control board

The most common cause of an E20 error code would be a clogged or damaged drain pump. Other possible issues would be a loose wire to you pressure switch, loose wire at your control board, loose wire at your drian pump, or failed control board. This is not a specific error but from my experience the most likely cause of this issue would be a bad drain pump. Something is clogging the pump or the motor is bad.

MIne had the same code. It is the error code for the motor and control board. The book that tells you how to read the code is under the washer behind the front panel. My washer was 4 1/2 years old and was shot. To repair this was $479 for parts and labor, I replaced with a new Amana front load washer for $496.00. Glad I had AHS home warranty only cost me $60.00 for the service call and they sent me a check for a replacement. I probably would not buy another Frigidaire, because a washer should last more than 4 years. Good Luck.

HI. Your unit is equipped with a Motor Speed Control Board. This board regulates the spin speed, with the help of a tachometer, which, is located and mounted on the motor. When this Control board is experiencing issues, the spin will not preform at optimal performance. I recommend to replace this Motor Control Board asap. Once replaced, the unit will spin properly.

clogged filter will cause this error code. I have the same washer and the filter located inside the rubber boot attached to the pump was full of junk. there was enough room for water to get thru but not enough for full volume. clean it out and it should work. note : its a pain to get the boot back on so be ready and take it slow. this worked for me.

motor control possibly bad

I had a Splendide that would do that. To spin and pump out, it actually ran in reverse! I finally found a loose connection on an electronics board near the motor. Another time the big capacitor had a dent in it and wouldn't work anymore. That keeps the motor from starting.
