Stove controls beeping and flashing "Probe"

While cooking a chicken, my stove went schitzo, and started beeping and flashing the "probe" message next to the temp display. We have tried clearing the controls by holding down both buttons on the display, and also unplugging the unit completely for several seconds. No luck, it just keeps beeping! Any ideas for us before we call a repair man? Thanks, MB

I have the SVE476008 Model and had a similar problem. In addition to the beeping and flashing of "Probe", the fan comes on when preheating, and the whole oven will shut off occasionally. Did you find out what was wrong with yours Catlady?

Most likely oven sensor / probe is the problem. It can be tested with an ohm meter. Not sure about your model, but most should read around 1100 ohms at room temperature. If there's a tech sheet somewhere on your unit, it should tell you.

GE oven jgs968s0h4ss Probe flashes and beeping whenever I cook

There's probably a short that makes the range think that the probe is connected. It could be the probe socket or the control board. Check the socket first since it can be damaged more often. See the parts diagram here: https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/ModelSectionParts/JGS968SH6SS/4/0/0/0/BODY_PARTS . The socket is part 594. It's reached by removing the side panel.

I hope this helps.

I cant get my oven to stay on model # FFEF3015LSM after a few minutes is turning oven on, it starts to beep and screen says F30

It looks like the probe is the same as the temperature sensor.

On some models, you can recalibrate the oven control up to 35 degrees Fahrenheit higher or lower. Refer to your owner's manual for instructions on how to recalibrate the oven control.

Since you're getting an error message the following may apply:

OPEN PROBE CONNECTION
1. (F30 or F31) Check resistance at room temperature & compare to RTD Sensor resistance chart. If resistance does not match the RTD chart replace RTD Sensor Probe. Check Sensor wiring harness between EOC & Sensor Probe connector.

SHORTED PROBE CONNECTION
2. (F30 or F31) Check resistance at room temperature, if less than 500 ohms, replace RTD Sensor Probe. Check for shorted Sensor Probe harness between EOC & Probe connector. .

Jenn-Air SCE 30600, oven error codes F1 and Probe

An F-1 error code on your model means the element was energized when it should not have been, A shorted interconnect harness or failed power relay board.

A probe indication could be a failed meat probe jack or bad harness in a unit that has one. In a unit without a meat probe, suspect a bad board.

Both conditions would warrant bringing in a tech.

Before you do, turn off the circuit breaker fot 3 miutes and turn it back on. This will reboot the boards. If problem persists, the call a service tech.

Temperature probe guide won't quit beeping

you have a bad computer board or clock assy. same thing the most common thing that cooks the board is heat and usually from self cleaning the oven, next time send the model number,if this is a slide in stove under the oven door is a drawer, open it and look at the frame, you'll see a tag with model and serial numbers,if that functions by itself you have a bad board.

Kichenaid electric stove

the probe is put into the oven to sense heat and to prevent the oven from oveheating during normal operation. the reason the probe is beeping is because it's dislogged or needs to be replaced.

the only way to make the beeping stop is to disable it but i wouldn't recommend it.

have a technician run a diagnostic on the stove. sounds like the probe needs to be replaced.

Probe light

I had the same problem today (my wife overflowed a pot of chicken stock last night, so there was liquid all over the cook-top, and some probably got down behind the control pannel). Based on the solution to a problem that seemed similar, though definitely not as exact as your description, I checked the probe connection (unscrewed the retaining nut, then unscrewed the two sheet metal screws holding the housing in place, then gave the probe connection a gentle tug to ensure that it was still properly connected). Finding nothing wrong, I replaced the housing and retaining nut, and the lights were no longer flashing.
