Hp photosmart pde

In word i want paper type/color quality, and this option does not appear. it does in other programs, such as photoshop. the driver version is 3.1

  • cella neapolitan Mar 02, 2012

i had already tried both these solutions ... as i said, the option DOES pop up in photoshop, not word. i did have it before our home network had to be re-set with a new modem-router. this is mac os x and hp photosmart 8750. i suspect the problem is with the driver -- probably different from before the re-set -- but since it's working for photoshop (and difficult to find, for some reason), i am afraid to uninstall in favor of a different one. sorry if this is long ... just wanted to explain the situation in more detail.

Select print from file menu then in the dialog box popped up there is a button to set print properties or advanced printer settings. should be there. if you have a software installed such as those utility from your printer vendor there may be some setting too. check your program groups from the start menu and you may find those.

Whoops, sorry did not notice its an Apple. I am not really a big Apple user. But it sounds like something during the modem swap. Any software was installed during that time? Driver may have got crashed too. If you can restore the system to that point of time before the modem swap quickly I will definitely try that. Otherwise you may try update the driver and utilities of your printer and maybe give it a new name, then try the new name in word.

Follow these steps to change print settings, and then print in Mac OS X 10.6. Step one: Select your product

  2. Select your product from the Printer: drop-down list.
Step two: Change print settings
  1. Type the number of copies to print in the Copies text box.
  2. If you want to print multiple copies, select the Collated check box to print the pages of each copy in order.
  3. Select the pages of the print job that you want to print. To print all pages, select All. To print a specific range of pages only, type the page number that begins the page range in the From text box. Then, type the page number that ends the page range in the To text box.
  4. Select the size and type of paper loaded in the product from the Paper Size drop-down list.
  5. Select the orientation for your print job. To print in portrait orientation, click the icon on the left. To print in landscape orientation, click the icon on the right.
Step three: Change the paper type and quality settings
  1. After the Orientation section, click the drop-down, and then select Paper Type/Quality . NOTE: This drop-down usually defaults to the program specific drop-down. In this example, the drop-down is the TextEdit drop-down. Figure 12: Select Paper Type/Qualityc02458421.jpg
  2. Adjust the Paper Type setting to match the paper loaded in the product.
  3. Adjust the Quality setting to change the print quality of the printed page.
  4. Select Print Borderless to print photos without a white border.

Photos come out totally blurred with colors mixed. Happens on all sizes of paper (photo quality).

  1. Make sure that there is letter, A4, or legal unused plain white paper in the input tray.
  2. Touch Setup on the display.
  3. Touch Tools .
  4. Touch Self-Test Report . A self-test report prints. Figure 1: Self Test Diagnostic Pagec01154260.png
  5. In the Print Quality Pattern section on the test page, look at the color blocks for any lines. Figure 2: Print Quality Patternc01154261.png
  6. If there is no color bleeding in the Print Quality Pattern color blocks, print a document to determine if the issue has been resolved.
If you have completed all of these steps and are still experiencing a problem, continue to Step three. Step three: Check the paper
  • Many papers have printing and non-printing sides. Load the paper with the printing side down.
  • Use the correct paper type for the project. For everyday documents, plain paper works well. For documents with dense printing, such as high-contrast graphics or photographs, use HP Advanced paper for the best results.
  • If these steps do not help, try a different paper. Ink might not bleed as easily on heavier paper. Paper that does not accept ink well is also prone to bleeding and smearing. HP designs its inks and papers to work together.
If you have completed all of these steps and are still experiencing a problem, continue to Step four. Step four: Check the printer settings
  1. In the software program you are trying to print from, click File and then click Print . The Print window opens.
  2. Make sure that your printer is selected and then click Preferences . The printer Preferences window opens.
  3. Click the Printing Shortcuts tab.
  4. The Printing Shortcuts tab lists most printing needs, but you might need to modify some of the options. Options on the Printing Shortcuts tab:
    • General Everyday Printing
    • Photo Printing-Borderless
    • Photo Printing-With White Borders
    • Fast/Economical printing
    • Presentation printing
    • Two-sided (Duplex) Printing

NOTE: These general printing shortcuts have pre-selected settings.
  5. To change the settings from the ones that are available on the Printing Shortcuts tab, click the Features or Color tab. Options on the Features or Color tab include:
    • Print quality : If you are unhappy with the quality of your printouts, try increasing the print quality. To print more quickly, try decreasing the print quality.
    • Paper type : If one of the options matches your paper type exactly, select it rather than Automatic.
    • Paper size : Make sure this matches your paper.
    • Print in Grayscale : Print a document in shades of gray.
    • Orientation : Specify how the document is positioned on the page.
    • Paper Source : Select the tray that you want to use for printing.
    • Two sided printing : Print on both sides of the paper.
    • Color Management : Specify the color space that the printer will use to interpret image data.
    • Pages per Sheet : Specify the number of pages of the document to print on each sheet.
If you have completed all of these steps and are still experiencing a problem, continue to Step five. Step five: Clean the printhead
NOTE: Do not clean the printhead unnecessarily because this wastes ink and shortens the life of the ink nozzles on the printhead.
  1. Make sure that there is plain white paper in the input tray.
  2. Touch Setup on the display.
  3. Touch Tools .
  4. Touch Clean Printhead . The HP All-in-One cleans the printhead and prints a test page.
Step six: Service your productIf you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product

  5. From the Size is drop-down menu, select the paper size that matches the paper in the tray.
  6. From the Type is drop-down menu, select the paper type that matches the paper in the tray.
  7. Click OK , and then click OK again to print the document.

Color from monitor to printer isn't the same.

Go to your printer properties and play around with the options you are given. You may find an option for paper quality: photo paper, print quality in which you can choose from the options from economical to best printing to photo printing. This may solve the highlights and shadows if your printer is set to print regular business copies.
