T.V. turning on

Hi, two problems.1..The remote will not turn on the tv from the standby mode until I turn the tv off and then on,
2... The tv turns itself on at random from standby mode. 2am 5am when I am asleep, sometimes during the day when I am out . Really annoying...Thanks Bob

My 45" Aquos turns on and off at random times. I thought it was my harmony remote left out in the open, but I still had the problem when the remote was in another room. Sometimes the TV goes for days without a problem, then it may do it twice in one day.

Yes my 26" sharp aquous LCD does the same thing, turns itself off and on at random times without explanation. I sent to authorized service center they replaced the power supply under warranty then it failed within 6 months and neither the repair center nor sharp will do anything about it other than sell me a new powersupply for $425.00. I have contacted a power supply repair center in Texas who has vowed to fix it once and for all. We'll see in the next week if they fix it or not.

I have a 51inch LG TV and never had a problem I turned it off as normal and then tried to turn it on a while later and nothing I only got a red solid stand-by light it don't flash when press side buttons...

Try following the steps below.
Step 1
Press the power button once. If the TV does not turn on, observe the LED indicator, usually located on the TV's lower front panel. If the LED indicator turned off after you pressed the power button once, it is in standby mode. Press the power button once again to exit standby and turn on the TV.

Step 2
Observe the Standby light if the remote control will not work. If the Standby light stays on, the television is in Standby mode. Press the power button on the television, then try to use the remote.

Step 3
Turn the Energy Saving Switch off, then press the power button. The Energy Saving Switch is located on the rear or side panel on most Sony model TVs. Refer to your TV user manual for the exact location of the switch.

May someone please send the service mode specifications for a Samsung LED 40 inch TV UA40EH5000R?

I don't have service mode specifications but I do have a Samsung and looked around for how to get it in service mode some time ago because the HDMI cables somehow disconnected themselves a lot. Thought it was an electronic problem but it turned out to be a parenting problem instead SO I have never used this information and can not vouch for it. I cut and paste it from a note I copied from a forum entry to use at your discretion:
First post:
To enter "Service Mode" Press the remote - control keys in this sequence :
From Standby Info-Menu-Mute-Power On
- The buttons are active in the service mode.
Remote - Control Key : Power, Arrow Up, Arrow Down, Arrow Left, Arrow Right, Menu, Enter, Number Key(0~9)
Careful though there are things you shouldn't touch in this menu.

Another post:
Method 1
Put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu.
Method 2
Turn the power off. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 8, 2, Power in sequence.
Method 3
With the TV in standby, press the {DISPLAY} {P.STD} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
Method 4
With the TV in standby, press the {SLEEP} {P.STD} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
Method 5
With the TV in standby, press the {DISPLAY} {MENU} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
Method 6
With the TV in standby. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 1, 9, Enter in sequence.

Good luck. Just a basic suggestion you probably don't need: keep track of any changes made by writing them down so you can put it all back if you have to.

My 15 month Celcus LCD423D913FHD tv will not turn on. The standby light is lit and will flicker but will not power up the tv. What is the likely problem?

Fault with its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

I need all the remote codes for a synergy5 remote so that i can control my zenith t.v.

Hi
Setup code for Synergy-5 remote control with Zenith TV are:

047 048 049 050 051
391 405 406 434
Proceedings.
[1] Turn on all the electronic devices (TV, VCR, DVD, AUDIO) you want to program the remote to operate

[2] Press [OK], then [MUTE] together until the power / mode buttons illuminate in slow-rotation (i.e. CBL ?
TV ? VCR ? DVD? AUDIO ? CBL...).

[3] (a) To program your TV, locate the 3-digit code for your brand in the TV Setup Code list and enter it on the

keypad of the remote control. Entry of the correct code will cause your TV to turn off. If multiple codes
are listed for your brand, you may have to try several different codes until your TV turns off.
(b) As soon as you have entered a 3-digit code that turns your TV off, press [MUTE].

(1) If the TV turns back on, press [OK] to lock in the code. The power / mode buttons will blink 3-
times and go out.
Or

(2) If the TV does not turn back on, enter a different 3-digit setup code until your TV turns back on.
Then press [OK] to lock in the code. The power / mode buttons will blink 3-times and go out.
OK.

I have the radion shack hdtv remote. Cat no

Download the manual and codes from here

http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files/dl.cgi?file=others/radio_shack/15135-manual.zip&area=other

Here is how to set the code...

1. Turn TV on
2. Press TV button on remote
3. Hold P button on remote until LED blinks twice
4. Enter the first 5 digit code for Magnavox TV's
5. Press Power button - TV should turn off. If TV doesn't turn off repeat steps 2-5 with the next 5 digit code, until either TV goes off or run out of codes.
6. If out of codes use searching for code method below...

TV codes for Magnavox

10047, 11454, 10054, 10154, 10000, 10250, 10051, 10180, 10060, 10030, 10171, 10092, 10706, 11913, 11904, 11755, 10019, 11365, 11254, 10802, 10386, 10282, 10020, 10187, 10186, 10024, 10179, 10096

Searching for code

1. Turn on TV.
2. Press TV button on remote
3. Press and hold P button until LED blinks twice
4. Enter code 991 on remote - LED blinks twice
5. Press 1 - Device key blinks twice
6. Press Power button once
7. Press and release CH+ key until TV turns off.

At this point in the manual, the manual is only correct depending on what type of TV you have.

In the manual if you press the Power on button the TV should turn itself back on, the fail to state that not all TV's turn on by the power button, the majority now are triggered to turn on, on channel change, however you can't use channel change here to check it as you'll go to the next code... here is my solution...

8. Turn TV back on either using original TV remote, or buttons on front (most TV's if you change channels they come back out of standby mode, very few now turn on by pressing the power button).

9. Press Power button on remote - TV should turn itself off again.
10. Press P button on remote to lock in that code.

If the device does not turn off press CH- to go back through the codes, press and release P button when TV turns off.

Finding code

If you used the search function you might want to know what code it's using. To do this follow these instructions...

1. Press TV button
2. Press and hold P until LED blinks twice
3. Enter 990 and LED blinks twice
4. Press 1 and count number of times LED blinks this is the first digit of your code (e.g. 1 blink = 1, 2 blinks = 2, etc).
5. Repeat step 4 pressing buttons 2 - 5 for the other digits (e.g. for the second digit press 2 count number of blinks.. etc)

At this point the manual doesn't tell you how to get out of this mode, I presume pressing any other button on the remote other than 1-5 will take you out of this mode, either that or leaving the remote alone for 5 minutes.

Samsung LE32R74BDX 32 in......

just spoke to Samsung support and it turns out that the freeview tuner had froze and needed resetting. To do this put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu. Press the 'down arrow' untill you've highlighted option 12 - 'reset' and then press the 'right arrow' to enter the option. TV will turn off and when you turn back on it will start in 'plug & play' mode as if new. Set the time and country options and then it will perform a complete scan. I've just retuned mine and all back to normal. Hoorah!!!! :-)
