Hi! msbjs
Sound like this could be a motor problem. Is there a lot of lint inside the dryer and around the motor?

Drain pump wont stop

It sounds and look's like the pressure switch. Their should be a tube connected to the pump that travels to the top of the machine ! ?
It could be more expensive (e.g timer) but check that you can blow through this tube from the pump to the pressure switch, a very slim tube about 7mm. Hope this helps ?

My Servis 1300 AA wont start properly, the start button just keeps flashing. We have got it working a couple of times by repeatedly whacking the door but its not the solution! any help would be great...

It is possible the the door switch has failed and so unless this switch contacts when closed the program will not start as a safety measure for filling water to the tub.
So remove power and slide the machine to check the door switch for continuity , you can short to test this switch before replacement.

Wont Run unless hold start switch

You most likely have a faulty motor centrifugal switch. This switch is engaged when the motor starts rotating. The switch itself could be faulty or the inertia-mechanism that activates the switch could be faulty. The inertia-mechanism usually has two small springs that pull it back into its resting position when the motor stops turning. I have found that the springs will sometimes break and produce the symptom you have described.

Below is a diagram of common centrifugal switches. The switch will be mounted on the end of the motor.

Is my choke on my 97 suzuki vz800. Supposed to be

You should be able to adjust the choke to where it will stay in without holding it by turning the rubber piece behind the choke clockwise towards you until the choke stays out on its own. You can adjust this so the choke automatically adjust as the bike warms.
Hope this helps..

Machine wont start after lid is closed unless lid is bumped

Check your lid switch. The symptoms of having to move the washer lid is a symptom of a lid switch malfunction. Other symptoms may include, no spinning, no agitation, stopping at the rinse cycle and no draining. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3557193-replacing_a_lid_switch

On some models, the lid switch is located under the top casing by one of the lid hinges. You will know if you if you have this type of switch, because It does not have a lid strike and the small hole on the right hand side of the wash tub will not be present. This switch is actuated (toggled) by a rod on the lid hinge. With this type of switch, if you locate it and it can be toggled by hand, you may only need to adjust the actuator by bending it slightly.

A replacement lid switch (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The average price is about $20 - $30. Prices differ between these sites, so shop and compare.

If the suggestions I have listed do not match your washer symptoms, please post back and elaborate more on what the washer is/is not doing so I can provide you with better assistance. Please include your model number (located on a nameplate along the wash tub rim under the lid) if its different than the one you listed the question under so that I may be able to assist you better. I hope this information is helpful to you.

NOTE: You do not have to drain the wash tub to perform this repair.

Dryer just hums when you try to start it

Most likely motor wont turn or blower is obstructed.

Try to spin the tub with your hand while starting the drier and holding down the door switch.

Maintance light

Read the owners manual. It instructs you to turn the key to the on position and then push and hold the reset button on the face of the instrument cluster until the light goes out (or words to that effect).

Everything sounds like its working...but nothing.

It sounds like your filter is clogged.  This can be tricky to unclog, but use the pin that came with the machine.  I have had the most success when I use the pin and try to run H20 (no coffee) through the filter basket.  Sometimes takes several tries, but eventually blows out the clog.
