Can't download video to macintosh from the canon zr100

I've never tried to import video directly from a DV camcorder to iDvd, I'm not even sure you can. I would first try importing the video into iMovie.. then once it's there you can take the video from imovie and import it into iDVD. 


But before you do that, make sure your camcorder isn't connected then Click on the apple button in the top left hand corner of your screen, go to "about this mac", click on "more info". then on the left side of the window that pops up click on "FireWire".. to the right you should see something like "firewire bus....Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec" Now connect the camcorder via FireWire and go back to that window and go to the menu "View" then click on "Refresh". At this point there should be a description of the camcorder in the area to the right.. if nothing changed, that means your computer is not communicating with the camcorder so the camcorder is either in the wrong mode, or the firewire cable is bad. Let me know what you find.

Hey, there is no easy way to tell you this but you're semi screwed. All DV camcorders use the same driver, which is why they're all plug and play. But for some reason some macs don't like certain canon products. My friend has this camera and i wanted to take some footage off of it, i tried on my main computer which is a powermac G5, it did not work. So i tried on my other Dual g4, didn't work, basically i tried on 6 macs and it only worked on two and they were both mac mini's One with a 1.6GHz solo and one with a Dual 1.83GHz Duo. I searched the internet for a solution and came up blank. Are you trying to use imovie or Final Cut? also what kind of mac do you have ?
