The problem is not that vonage is digital and your fax is analog. Your phone is also analog. Vonage simply records your analog signal and send it digitally. If you can send faxes but not recieve it's because your firewall needs the ports opened or the vonage router needs to be on the DMZ port or setting. Your router user manual should tell you how to do this. There are many posts on the vonage forums about this subject as well.

Hp laser jet m1536dnf MFP won't send fax comm error 388

You can start by making sure that the photocopy is working, this is to ensure that the scanner is working. Next, try to isolate the issue if this is only happening to only one fax number? If all of these have negative results, I suggest for a hardware reset. Follow the steps for reset found here, How to Reset the HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer. Goodluck :)

We are unable to find the literature that came with this machine. What is Error 388?

Hi There,

HP All in One Error 388 is a FAX transmission error code that means the Fax software has encountered too much noise on the telephone line to talk to its destination. It's not a problem with your printer. The solution is to wait until line traffic noise subsides (try again later).

If you're not trying to send a fax then your software installation may be flawed in some way and uninstaling and reinstalling the printer would likely resolve the issue.

Best Regards.

What is error 388

there is not error code for the OfficeJet 4315. however, there are similar code for other Hp printer.
error "388" is lised as unable to detect T30 frames. in other words, the machine fail to establish comparable connection. this can be the machine trying to send out fax in high speed, or the phone line problem.
consult the user manul how to set a lower transmission rate, or try to send the fax at a differnt time of the day . If that still give you problem, please call the phone company and have they look a the phone line.

Communication error

keep the window closed ok? that's more along the lines of the phone issues, than the fax machine itself..there are many ways to outwit the phone tree issues, but each number would need to be encoded directly.

solution?

get a dedicated inexpensive fax machine, or use efax.com
