Maytag MMV4205AAS runs 3 seconds then shuts off

The fan started turning itself on and off. A few days later, the time of day cleared. When I would reset it, it would clear itself again. Finally, I turned on the microwave and it would run for 3-4 seconds, then shut completely off.

SOURCE: Maytag microwave mmv1153aaw

my guess would be the wave cover. sometimes they smoke and makes sparking sounds. does it still heat food?...if it does, then its not the magnetron.

SOURCE: Our Microwave keeps running and won't stop. It is

The fan you hear is probably the magnetron cooling fan and that, and the light, are probably both controlled by the electronics board that controls everything else. You might inquire online at Maytag or the Sears parts department to determine the cost of a replacement board but I suspect it will either not be available at all or cost 3/4 of a new microwave.

SOURCE: Hello, I have a maytag microwave

There is a problem inside the microwave oven.
This could be thermal in nature - in which cae the oven will operate again after a cooling period (which might be as long as fifteen minutes), or there could be a problem which caused a protective fuse to rupture.

I do not advise opening these appliances unless one is fully aware of the associated risks.

GE microwave won't turn off

Just checked the GE website. Had the same problem with my 5 year old microwave. GE website says to close and open the door quickly three times. First time I did this it didn't work. Second time I closed the door with some significant force and reopened it more quickly. Worked. Unplugged the microwave, plugged it back in, still fine.

I have a Maytag Model MMV5207BAB over the range microwave oven that crapped out after 11 mos use. No warning, just no power. The outlet is fine I have no power surge problems in my house. This is the...

There is an internal fuse which is located underneath the side\top shell. If you have no lights or control panel, this is the most likely cause. This is not difficult to replace.

No light, internal fan...then no display

The light isn't a safety issue but I would think that the fan would be.

The fan is designed to remove excess heat from unit and keep it cool. Without the fan, you're now operating the unit under conditions that it wasn't designed for.

With the unit unplugged, try removing the cover and see if a fuse has blown. If so, replace it with the EXACT value of the original.

See if the unit powers up again. Try heating heating up something for 30 seconds to see if the Magnetron is still functioning.

If so, check to see if the bulb is good. Did the bulb and fan stop at the same time? If so, it might be something in common that controls both.

Don't operate it further until you have it looked at. You don't want to cause something else to fail.

Good luck!

Microwave came on by itself

Yes this is usually caused by the touch assy, but $278 !!!!! Thats kinda steep considering the panel assy is only around 30-60 bucks!!! It will need the touch assy and even possibly the control board, because sometimes the logic IC gets fried and causes "ghost issues" as well.
