Because I am a longtime good customer, Cingular kindly provided me with the subsidy unlock code so that I can use my new W300i on my upcoming several-week trip to Europe, with a local SIM card that I purchase in country. They claim to have sent me both the code and the instructions for unlocking the phone by email, but I didn't get the email. After several calls back to Cingular support, I talked to a customer service rep who found and read me the instructions for entering the subsidy unlock code for this phone model. (This may be the same for other Sony Ericsson phones, I don't know.) Here they are... 1. put a non-Cingular SIM card into your W300i and power it on. 2. the display will indicate that the phone is locked, telling you that you cannot use the phone on this network. 3. disregard this 4. hit the left arrow (the left side of the navigation doughnut, I assume?) 5. hit the star 6. hit the star again 7. hit the left arrow again 8. this should result in you being at the Unlock menu. If not, start over and carefully repeat the steps. 9. the display will say "ME Lock", and in a few seconds it will change to say "Network" and show a picture of a locked padlock 10. Press Yes 11. The display will say "Unlock?" 12. Press Yes 13. The display will say "Enter NCK" 14. At this point, type in the subsidy unlock code that you received from Cingular (16 digits, probably) 15. Press Yes 16. The display will say "Network" and show a picture of an unlocked padlock (Note: if after doing this, you don't get this result, your subsidy unlock code may not be correct; do not try this more than 2 times total, as I've heard that the phone may be damaged permanently if you try a 3rd time.) 17. After doing this, the phone is permanently unlocked, and can be used on any compatible GSM network on any of the 4 bands this phone works on (which in the USA includes T-Mobile, and in Canada includes Rogers and Fido). The phone is still running software loaded by Cingular, so there may be a few menu items that may not work correctly, since they may be customized for the Cingular network service. To change the software, you have to flash new software into the phone, and I have heard that is possible, too. Someone else's post may cover that procedure. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY YOU NEED THE SUBSUDY CODE FROM YOUR PROVIDER. I hope this helps some and GOOD LUCK!!! :-)

in this case, you need to unlock your phone and you need a cellphone unlocking software to do that. try to search downloadable ones through the internet. if no success, then you'd have to bring it to a cellphone technician who might have those, thus can unlock your phone.

There are websites online that provide unlocking services for a fee. If you google "phone unlock service" you will see many options.
There is also another way to go.
You can call yout service provider (ex. ATT, T-Mobile) or the company that branded the phone (the company that the phone is locked to) and tell them that you would like the unlock code for your phone. They will probably ask WHY you want the unlock code. Tell them that you will be going out of the country and need the phone unlocked in order to use a pre-paid SIM card in the country of destination. They will then get you the unlock code typically within three days. Hope this helps.
