Ex-girl put password as the adminastrator and i dont know it also my 1501 dell wont start in safe mode

The Dell Inspiron 1501 is a laptop computer which ships with the Windows Vista operating system. Recovering a lost password can seem difficult, as you will be locked out of the passworded account until remedial measures are taken, but it is not impossible. Recover from a lost password on your Dell Vista system by using the password-recovery features of your operating system.

Restart your Dell 1501 and tap "F8" as the computer is booting. Choose the "Safe Mode" option and press "Enter." Select the "Administrator" account to log in to the computer in Safe Mode. Click "Start," type "control userpasswords2" in the "Search" box and press "Enter." Click on the locked account and press "Reset Password." This resets and recovers the password on your Dell computer.

Resetting password & user name on Windows:b>*Start your computer
*Keep pressing "F8" as the computer starts.
*This will enter the computer in Safe Mode.
*(When the window "Advanced Boot Options" opens, choose "SafeMode" with arrow key and confirmby pressing the Enter key, then computer enters Safe Mode.
*Once you are in the Safe mode Click "Administrator" on the Windowslogin screen.
*Take note that you have set the Administrator password before, you need toinput the changed password instead of leaving "Password" field blank.
*Then click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Select the accountthat is locked and change the password.
**Restart computer and login into the account you just created using your newpassword.

You should be able to restart the computer and upon restart start tapping the F8 key to go into Safe Mode. Once you are in, you should be able to clear the password, restart normally into Windows and you should not be prompted for the password.

boot in safe mode. uninstall the k9 web.
boot in safe mode. access the regedit. delete all folders associated with k9 web.

Reformatting the hard drive is the best way to solve this problem. Reformatting will also get rid of all the junk files and make the system faster.

Hi Colin what you can do is open the laptop up from the bottom there is a little password jumper it is a small plastic cap. it should say password or p/w on it or near it. take it out for 20-30 minutes and put bk in. Now on startup it shouldnt ask for any password

when i have this issue with a pc i pull out the battery and stick a wire into the spot to reset my cmos (bios) on the motherboard. but ive taking lap tops apart before its not fun!!!!!Try starting in safe mode i belive dell likes you to hold down f10 key but i could be wrong. Once in safe mode change the seting for the passwords. Hope this helped

If you are lucky, the system is running Windows XP home edition. Boot to the Safe mode (F8) at boot, and see if you have an option for an ADMINISTRATOR account if there is, the password should be blank. Then you can boot to that account, and reset the password on your account.

When your computer boots and the login screen appears press control(ctrl) + alt + delete twice. This will bring up a window asking you for your username and password.
Type "administrator" without the quotes as the username and leave the password field blank. Press OK.
When you are logged in as an administrator change the password for your old username using control panel>user accounts.

Do you mean to say there's No power or wont boot into Windows ?
Did you check your RAM and made sure the're properly seated ?

Try tapping on F8 while rebooting to go to Safe Mode and selecting "Last Known Good Configuration"
