If you haven't already fixed this; try going into, settings, navsetup, - this should give a Path of navigation software line, this line should read: '\StorageCard\iGO8\iGO8.exe' click on file icon at end of the path window "select storage card, select iGO8.exe, select tick to apply then exit.

This works for mine but I assume that if an alternative software is shown in the path window you must choose an approppriate .exe file in the storage card files.

Why doent my gps speak s

The things you'd want to check first are:
1. the volume of your speaker is not turned off ...
2. your GPS (navigation) software supports voice navigation - directions /commands ...
3. you have (installed & selected) a navigation voice (e.g. standard or computer voice)
4. you have done a "reboot" ... or "hard reset" ... to start the software up again.
If all of these are OK ... and you previously had heard navigation voice on your GPS ... but suddenly, there's no more navigation voice, then it is possible that the navigation software (voice portion) got corrupted. If that's the case, you would want to try to restore your software from backup (using HOME), or download a copy of the navigation software from TomTom.com (for your device type/class) and install it.

Turn device on and all i get is a blue screen

If your GPS battery is fully charged, and the GPS device doesn't go past your blue / start-up screen to get to a driving screen, there's a possibility your navigation software may be corrupted; i.e. it hangs.
I'm assuming it stays there, at the start up screen, for a very long time ...
Have you tried to do a "reboot" ... by holding down the ON/OFF button for a (long) while (until the system shuts down and starts up again) and then let it go ? Or have you tried to do a "hard reboot" by depressing the reset (hole) ?

If the navigation software is corrupted, you can (try to) restore it from your backup or download a copy (using HOME) from TomTom ... or get a good copy (from TomTom, a friend, etc.) to replace the navigation software. If you need further instructions/directions, let me know how I can reach you by email

NAVLINK NO GPS SIGNALand sometimes shows grey signal strength which means not strong enough to receive, help needed to fix this problem. tthanks

Happened to me recently,  showing grey signal bars but never locked (turn blue) so I was quite frustrated by it as I've only used the system a few times.  I have chased up a few suggestions from the web & the one I tried work.   Some suggested using Sirfdemo to reset the GPS receiver to NMEA mode as they could accidentally go into SIRF mode if the device is left active but has no view of the sky for an extended period (can easily happen if you left the unit in standby mode and placed the GPS in the glovebox).   The other solution is to remove the battery for anywhere from 24 hours to 7 days so that the SiRF chip capacitor will reset itself ...this is the solution I tried -  I left my unit without the battery for about 5 to 6 days and it came back to life again,  I've read some people left their GPS (albeit not Navlink) off for 4 days but still didn't work but retried again for 7 days and it worked.  Remember, once you place the battery back in I think the capacitor is charged up again so if it was not left off long enough you'll have to start counting from day 1 again.   All the best.  Jono

I have a garmin 265w that shut off by itself and will not turn o

Getting stuck on the flashing Garmin logo, or a message about not finding any maps, are indications that the firmware / system software inside your GPS has been corrupted.

I can help you reset and fix your Garmin Nuvi 265W.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi 265W running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

How does gps navigation work on htc touch diamond

Yeah, google maps does not navigate, it only shows your location, and shows directions, but I think it should follow you with the gps, I can't check at the moment as my gps is broken...

But I do know for sure that it will not tell you, with voice and text, when to turn and how much of a distance you have to make that turn, etc.
Navigation software is a must if you are planning to use it while driving..Google Maps is enough if you ask me though, but only if you have an unlimited data plan...otherwise get navigation software, which has the maps stored as data straight on your phone.
