SOURCE: Refilled Cartridge

I have a Lexmark X7170 with the same type problem. Refilled without a prob for many times. The last time I couldn't use it after refill and bought a new cartridge which is already out of ink. I refilled it and after installing it I get a message that the cartridge is missing and the alignment won't work

BUT

Icalled my ink supplier to see if they knew of an anti refill device put in by Lexmark and they said that they had not heard this.. While talking I remembered that the previously I got a message while printing that the cartridge was missing but if I clicked OK the printer printed without a problem! So maybe yoy just need to skip the alignment, ignore the messages and try to print anyway. The last one I refilled is now working .

Another possibility is that after some number of refills the cartridges just quit and you need to occasionally purchase a new one - this I heard previously from my supplier

Good Luck
BL.

SOURCE: x5470 Lexmark printer

Just unplug the printer from the back and plug it back in. Problem solved. I did this on my mother's printer and it worked like a charm for this same error msg and issue.

SOURCE: Refill cartridge for lexmark X6570

please note that I am not an expert, in this field just an attorney and that is why I am putting my full disclaimer right here at the top---That i am not an expert but only speaking from experience.

Earlier this morning, I just pulled the cartridges to check the Lexmark print (X6570) cartridge numbers (41&42). When I typed these numbers in on inksell.com to retrieve the price and other information for these cartridges, they did not have any refill kits or anything of that nature for these specific cartridges.

To answer your question about why the printer is not detecting that your cartridge is full is probably because the cartridge has a chip in it that essentially disables it once the original manufacturer ink is empty. tHEY [Lexmark & Dell] do not want outside competition In other words, the printer manufacturers make the bulk of the money on selling new cartridges (for a fortune) . To make matters worse, they always seem to be half empty even though they are ‘brand-new’ ink cartridges The bottom line is that the faster you can go through a printer cartridge, they can sell many more of the cartridges that they are charging us a fortune for.

Needless to say, I am just going to go and get me another HP printer. My advice would be to check to see if ink-refill kits (see sites like inksell.com) are available for any future printers that u purchase.

SOURCE: refilling lexmark cartridges x2500

There are a couple ways to trick it into accepting the cartridge. You can put a different one in, take it out and then put the filled one in. Or you can find a refill kit with instructions on what contacts to cover with tape and you have to do it 2 or 3 times to get the printer to reset. Sometimes you can shut off the computer and printer for 20 min and start it up again. Or you can get the sledge hammer and smash the stupid printer before it sucks up your life savings and vow never to buy from a company that profits from causing problems that they tell you can only be solved by using more of their overpriced solutions.

SOURCE: My Lexmark X5410 Printer will not recognize a refill cartridge.

Hi there

This is the same old story with Lexmark printers, you cant do any thing about it the chips have a small fuse inside them and soon as they emty it blows the fuse, and thats it so I beleave the only way is to buy new ink, or a diferent printer.
Not know any fix for them myself sorry.

Can try.
Turn printer off. Unplug power cord and other cables. Wait 30 seconds. Plug cords and cables back in.

Also seen this on the net.
Use clear tape over left hand row of sensors on front of cartridge and re-insert. ink now shows with question mark but reads as full and prints fine.

but yeah, best bet, never ever buy lexmark.....:)

If that doesn't work, try disabling your ink monitoring software.

Instructions for refilling cartridges on a Lexmark Prevail Pro705 printer

Please note that Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, re-manufactured or clone cartridges. You might not get the print quality you expect from the ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark.

I have a four in one Lexmark x5630 printer and have replaced cartridges with brand new black and colour 36 & 37xl. The printer won't even print a test page - just says that cartridge error co

The problem could be due to a communication failure between one of the printheads (cartridges) and the All-In One (AIO) or by a short in one if the printheads. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix cartridge issues:

  1. Make sure the printer is on.
  2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-In-One is busy. Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer or unplug the printer from the power source and then carefully slide the carrier to the center.
  3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.
  4. Close the printer cover.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in to, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
  7. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
  8. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
Try to contact the store where you bought the new cartridge(s) and have them replace it. You may also contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance (especially if you're using genuine cartridges).

We have a X5650 Lexmark printer. The ink cartridges were both replaced with certified cartridges (parts 36 and 37xl) . When installed the printer does not recognize that the cartridges have ink and...

It could be that the cartridges are not inserted properly in the carrier or just needs cleaning. Try to remove both cartridges from the printer and manually clean the nozzles. You may refer to this article on How to Clean the Print Cartridge Nozzles and Contacts Manually. Then reinsert one cartridge first and close the cover. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error. You can also try the Clean Cartridge function on the printer by pressing the Setup button -> Maintenance -> Clean Cartridges. It will then print the clean nozzles test page. If error continues, replace the faulty cartridge.

Refill lexmark 37xl ink

I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and we do not refill the Lexmark 36 and 37. The reason is that your printer turns off the electronics on the cartridge when the ink gets low, so you can't reuse the cartridge. Your printer will only function with an electronically functioning cartridge. We NEVER recommend Lexmark printers. They are poorly made, don't accept refills a lot of the time, and across manufacturer their ink costs the most and is designed to clog the cartridge if you don't use it fast enough. We recommend HP printers that take integrated print head cartridges and Canon printers that take tank style cartridges.

Lexmark X4530 Incorrect Cartridges.

By any chance did you get these cartridges refilled? If so then you may be out of luck as I read that Lexmark chip their cartridges/printers to reject refilled cartridges. I have the same problem at the moment just with the right (colur) cartridge. The cartridge is an original refillable Lexmark (i.e. grey box) I got the cartridge refilled twice and it worked fine, but the third time no joy. Research indicate that Lexmark program their printers to reject cartridges refilled 3 times!!

Refilling cartridges

For that printer: there are 4 color and 4 black cartridges BESIDES the #31 photo cartridge. Lexmark has made it so you MUST either, throw away or send to them, the 36 and 37, the 36XL and 37XL. The printer will never again recognize them after they are removed from the printer...
However, the 36XLA and 37XLA AND the 36A and 37A as well as the 31 Photo may be removed from the printer, refilled, and reinstalled.

I have seen some forums that say you can but a piece of BLACK tape, across the bottom row of contacts on the non-refillable cartridges....I believe there are 4 to 7 contacts across the bottom row only.....and the printer will still give you a message that it needs ink.....but it WILL print. I have not tested this theory yet though. I have just gotten the first message saying my black ink is very low.

Hope this helps and I think Lexmark Corporation Sucks for tricking people like this. (This printer comes with the NON refillable cartridges as default, but I did NOT see in the documentation that it couldn't be refilled. Nasty people........:(

Good Luck~~! [email protected]

Refill inkcartridge 17 of lexmark x2250 don't work

“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.
