Hi Ron, you can just add a comment on your old or this question, and i will be notified that you have done so, this will save you from paying again, and will let you answer me if i need more info, i think the comment section is under question and marked as a speach bubble, i will add a comment to this so you can see when im done.
Great you have the driver new so we know thats not our issue, but please check paper size is set correct for your tray in that driver in control panel printers, but /i guess what is your issue now is paper size settings. It sounds like your default page size is correct in excell but it is not in word ( i guess it is from word you are telling me you are having problems because windows dont print, word does.
Does it print fine when you do test print in control panel/printers/ right click on icon, print test page?...I guessing it does, so that means word is our problem without doubt...
It depends on what versions of programs we are using as to where things are so if it isnt exactly as i say thats why.... normally i speak from a windows 7 and word 2003 point of view but they are all simular just not exactly the same...
Open a document in word and we need to check what page size it is, to do that it in Word look under file, page size, now this needs to be same as what you have the setting set for your main tray in the printers driver (control panel/printers/printing preferences). Click for word info
If it is not the same and you send it to the printer it will "think" "mmm I dont have that size word is telling me to print" and go "well lets divert to manual feed slot and ask operator to feed me the size he wants"
Once you get the page size correct for a particular document in word, you will need to save it again so it remembers, but this will need to be done in every old document as they seem from here to be set incorrectly. I also would guess if you open a new blank document in word, it will also be wrong page size, so you need to set default document page size correctly too, so when you start new word documents they will be right to print. Click for info on changing default size in word
It is possible that word is right and excel and printer properties is wrong and you have same issue you are experencing, but you will know by comparing, page size in word/excel and print driver.
There are other settings in word that change what tray (manaul or tray) the first page of a document is sent to printer, but i will go there with you if above is in vain. Or you can see the help file in whatever version of word/works or office you are using to get a better understanding of its features and settings, or let me know by comment what versions of programs you are using ( ie windows XP/vista/7 and Office 2003/2008/2011 etc) and i will help sort it as best i can, but im a printer tec with some software experance, not a software engineer, and your issue is sounding more and more like a software issue now not a brother printer problem, but im all good with that as i run across it often enought to be able to help.
Cheers
Steve
A comment... (to change print driver settings...Check the "paper size" of "Tray 1". If it's set to "undefined", change it to your corresponding paper format. Click Update, Apply. ).
another one....PAGE SETUP on the Word Doc. Go to File. Page Setup. Paper. Make sure that your paper source is set to Tray 1
cheers Ron
