My blackberry takes forever to charge even with a new battery inserted. By forever I mean it reboots fine when battery is completely dead but as soon as the phone is on, the lightning bolt goes on (when i insert the charger) but the phone actually isnt charging the battery. Left it on 1% charging, came back 3 hours later and it's 2%. Please help!

It means your battery is bad or its the wrong battery so if you've had the same battery the whole time you need a new one. If you just replaced it then its the wrong battery.
Not initializing is a sign of corrupted firmware. I recommend you replace the firmware and system software with the latest version. The latest BlackBerry Bold 9700 system software is available through here.
SIMPLE FIX: Symptom: My blackberry BB keeps rebooting and restarting; endless loop.
Solution: Remove battery, Re-Insert Battery, replace case backing & PRESS & HOLD on back of casing when reboot gets to just before home screen. Keep holding until home screen comes up completely and everything loads. (usually 10-15 seconds once home screen appears) IMPORTANT: WHERE to press & hold back of phone/battery casing when rebooting; On back of phone casing there are 2 gold strips that hold 2 gold nodes on phone down. THIS IS WHERE you press. In essence you are firmly holding these nodes down with back casing on, just as phone reboots to home screen.
I suggest you to check the battery status.
If the battery is not charged completely handheld does not turn on.
If the battery is fully charged and still the phone is unable to turn on, then check with the other battery.
Inspite of that you are facing the same problem, visit the outlet from where you have purchased the handheld to service.
I Hope it helped you.

This usually means the bb and battery got a little wet or has other issues. Try these solutions in order. They go from easisest to hardest. NOTE: If you have an insurance policy on the bb probably best just to take it in.
1. Remove the back cover. Remove the battery and the SIM card. Wait 30 seconds. Replace SIM, battery and back cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.
2. If that doesn't work, allow the bb to remain unplugged but ON for about 24 hours to drain the battery. Remove back cover and battery. Allow battery and opened bb to sit in a dry environment for 24 - 36 hours. Relace battery and cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.
3. If that fails, retry step 2 but allow battery to FULLY drain then dry out again.

3. If that fails, try another battery (a friends or one from your cellstore) to see if tat's the problem. If so, (a) retry step 2 but allow battery to FULLY drain then dry out again, (b) buy a new battery for $60 retail or (c) buy a new battery on ebay for a lot less.
Lots of battery issues with the Bold. Try taking the battery out, keeping it out and connecting to PC with USB. Do any lights come on? Red light should appear. Put battery in while connected to USB.
Another fix that I found for a friend-leave the battery out of the unit for a day-put it in and plug in power cord or USB. It worked.
