Since you already have a Quantaray lens, you should know that Quantaray makes lenses with a variety of mounts. A lens with a Pentax mount won't fit a Canon camera, for example. As long as you get the lens with a Canon mount it will fit the XTi just fine.
Is the lens just bought new? If not, it likely is 'chipped' for the Canon AF film cameras. I do not recall if Quantaray rechips their lenses. I believe Sigma does theirs, but not sure about Q~. If you got the paperwork with the lens, contact a repair center or Quantaray. Contact US1 Photo at 877-300-8070. they are a Quantaray dealer. Ask for the number to the distributor, warranty repair facility and for the number of the quantaray home office. One of them should help you get the right lens.
The 35mm Rebel Ti and the Rebel 300D use the same lens mounting protocol. All Canon cameras designated 'EOS' use the autofocus EF lenses. If your Quantaray lens worked on the Rebel Ti, it will fit and should work on the Rebel 300D.
If it's an older lens, for EOS film cameras, Quantaray might upgrade it free - contact your local Ritz Camera store ( it's imported by Ritz ) or find a repair center for Quantaray online.
That's good info. The trouble is that Quantaray makes lenses for different bodies. Your lens could be made for Minolta, Nikon, Canon or other. You may be able to find a universal adapter but first you need to know what mount that lens was originally made for. I recommend either taking the lens to a camera store or calling Quantaray to see if they can look up the mount using the serial number.
