Nikon f5 dead

I have installed fresh batteries but the camera is still dead

I put one in backwards once, check them all to make sure
it drove me nuts until I realized what I did

I do know that on earlier models like the N90s and 8008s, the small nut that holds the battery clip in place activated a cut off switch. If the switch was faulty, the camera would not turn on. There may be a similar switch in the F100.

SOURCE: Nikon FA will not advance. Meter will not give reading.

Nikon Fa advance lever loose.

Not used camera for a few years and set to M250 mode due to not having batteries, Advanced lever once to test, advanced one, then pulled lever back for another test.

Lever then feels lifeless and has no resistance to being moved. it will not take a picture even with batteries. any Idea what the problem is?

SOURCE: Put a fresh battery in

check the battery contacts and cean them with a Tip with lighter fluid on the swab
Try again to see if the meter works
If not a capactor in the circuitry has gone bad
Ebay always has these Nikon EM's selling at decent prices that operate still
Parts are hard to finf new for these anymore

It could be the batteries. It could be the battery charging circuit in your camera. Try charging the batteries in an external charger that you know for a fact is working properly. That will tell you if it is the camera's charging circuit or the batteries. If it is the camera's charging circuit, it will cost less to use an external charger then to repair the camera.

Camera is dead after replacing the batteries within 24 hrs
fresh alkaline batteries carry a voltage of about 1.7v each..... you might have cooked the camera power circuit.

Battery exhausted
It just means your batteries are about to go dead. Replace the batteries with fresh new ones.

If you have done this already, remove the batteries, flp the camera on postion, and back of, reinsert new batteries, and turn it back on.

if problem still happens, their is an other issue with your canera

I put in a freshly charged battery and go shoot a youth football game. After a series of shots, my battery is "dead". I turn the camera off and then back on and can get a few more shots before it goes dead...
How about cleaning the battery contacts in the camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol? It also wouldn't hurt to visit the support section of the Nikon website to see if they've posted any firmware updates.

Make sure you have the menus set the way you want.

It's possible that there was some existing fault with the camera that led to it being disused. The lack of use led to the batteries leaking.

I suggest you find a pro camera dealership nearby and ask them to refurbish the camera. The pro stores will normally be able to rent you a temporary replacement.

Nikon Coolpix L3 thinks batteries are dead
I think this was a firmware fault on some cameras. Check with Nikon to see if there is a new firmware for your particular camera. This can be downloaded free of charge and uploaded to the camera via USB.
