Hello

Boot the computer into SAFE MODE. Go to CONTROL PANEL - DISPLAY PROPERTIES. Change the screen resolution to a common size - like 800x600 or 1024*768 and save the settings. Reboot the computer.

Everything on the screen will be very large but you should be able to see the desktop and make additional changes. Go to CONTROL PANEL and DISPLAY PROPERTIES again, and change the screen resolution and click APPLY. This will change the resolution to the new settings and will give you the opportunity to revert back to the old setting if it does not work.

Once you hit APPLY - the screen will change. If you can see the screen, you will see the option to ACCEPT the changes or to REVERT back to the prior setting. If you do not choose anything, the system will revert to the prior setting automatically - typically in about 15 seconds.

Make changes to the screen until it appears as you want it, click ACCPET when you find the one you like.

How do I retire a Signal out of Range error message?

Go into HP screen menu and turn off the display notification

The input signal out of range on screen persists in spite of all monitor and PC video settings being correct.

Have you tried uninstalling the graphics driver entirely and then rebooting? Could be a corrupted driver.

Inout signal out of range Answer Failed: retry

It shows out of range because the PC is sending out the video signal that is higher than the monitor can display, you need to set the PC video resolution to the native resolution: 1024 x 768 @60Hz. You can reboot the PC into save mode (hitting F8 key while booting up) then set the resolution to 640 x 480 (try 1024 x 768 if it allows you to do so), reboot and reset the resoltion to 1024 x 768 @60Hz.

Signal out of range

1: Signal out of range meas the monitor can't handle the input refresh rate. lcd and Tft monitors usually supports 60 and 75Hz refresh rates.
2: The Resolution you are using to view the desktop is too high, this number is depending on the size of the lcd monitor.
a 15" lcd usually runs with: 1024x768 with 60hz
a 17" lcd usually runs with: 1280x1024 with 60hz some of them supports 75hz.
a 19" lcd usually runs with 1600x1200 or higher.

I recommend reading the user manual if you have it, or checking the information on the manufacturer's website.

3: As a solution turn on your computer and after it passes the bios screen press F8 and select VGA mode.

This will enable 640x480 (standard vga) resolution and 60Hz refresh rate, after windows boots up you can change thease nmbers , and windows automatically asks for turning to 800x600 60Hz.

If you want to change the resolution go to: Right click on your desktop, select properties , select settings tab, and adjust the resolution on the bottom of the window.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Input Signal Out of Range

I have been having the same problem with my hpvs17 monitor when i start to use my web browser on linux distros. Now, for the next few days i am going to try my system on a regular crt monitor. if the monitor does not crash, than i will have to say that the hpvs17 monitor has a defect. It seems that when i go online, while i am in the middle of searching something, the monitor just shuts off and i get "input signal out of range".

Input Signal Out Of Range

Some monitors have low resolution, that if it doesn't support that resolution then you'll expect an "input signal out of range" message on screen. try to boot on "safe mode" if it works then you have to lower your screen resolution at "display properties" if not then the monitor has a defective data cable. ;)
