Downloaded version 9, yeahoo mes, problem raised9 ( stoped working) and now wont even let me go abck to 8.1 version.any solution i appreciated. [email protected]
If you are using Win Me,Winxp or Vista there is a option called system restore in Accessories System tools.Click system restore ,you can see the dates in one side.Select date which you have installed yahooMessenger and restore it to the previous date.No need to be scared it will not change your personal data.

It seems there are a whole load of people who have this problem with messanger 9. The only solution i have found so far is to delete it from pc and install vesion 8 instead.
you may download the original version of yahoo messanger without paying any fee. you just are to create your account there and search for the yahoo messanger, this will appear the collection of yahoo messanger for you. click any of the name and read description about it and below description there is a link to download yahoo messanger. Copy that link and paste in address bas of new browser or window. when the page appears, click on the Free User button and wait for 1 minute, after that this will appear a button of Download, click it and download.
i wud recommend you to install yahoo messenger 8.1 ... since messenger 9 is a beta version its full of glitches... with regard to plug-ins.... 8.1 works just fine... and there is really not much difference between the two versions.... 9 has theme displays thats it....
First you have to uninstall the 9.0 version. Go to CONTROL
PANEL----than go to PROGRAMS/FEATURES, or ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS. Scroll
down till you see YAHOO MESSENGER. Click on it and than click
UNINSTALL

what version of yahoo messenger your using? If using beta version I suggest to download the latest version and update I believe its ver. 9 now.
check also your connection settings
go to preferences menu under Messenger main menu
select Connection tab and check if "Connect Directly To the Internet" is selected(choose this if your computer is directly connected to internet router not thru Network or LAN or gateway)
select Via Proxy and HTTP proxy if your connecting thru LAN using Proxy server(you need to identify your proxy IP address if your using ver. 8 of messenger)
I had the same problem... I have a Dell Inspiron B130 Laptop. The only thing that worked for me was to do the following: Click START click CONTROL PANEL click ADD AND REMOVE PROGRAMS scroll to Yahoo Messanger, click on it, and it should have a option to repair. Click on that, and follow the step-by-step instructions. GOOD LUCK!!!
hi , i also had the same problem, but i was able to fix it. dont know if its only for a while.
what i did was i uninstalled then installed Yahoo messenger . . then right click on the yahoo icon and select administrator . then the YM will pop out but still you cannot log in .
i then started to update my norton antivirus and then after it had installed the updates, restart your computer. after that dont know how it happened but it was fixed. i can log in
