"Heater Circuit Malfunction" Kenmore 16033

I have a Kenmore Dishwasher 16033. While under warranty, the clean light would flash when I tried to start a cleaning cycle. I called and was given a series of buttons to push on the dishwasher to clear the problem (like "Pots and Pans" and "Heated Dry" back and forth 3 times each). Of course, I didn't write down the procedure and the dishwasher is no longer under warranty. Does anyone know what I need to press to avoid a service call?

I was so excited that the sequence worked cause the repair people said 75 bucks just to look or 200 bucks for a plan.

This sequence caused the board to light up all at once and bingo, we r on!!!! Thank you so much for the help. The power of the computer exceeds a maintenance call.

One more saved consumer - thank God for the internet. I even had the control panel opened - no need, just do the button sequence and all fixed!!!

I have a Kenmore Ultra Wash Quiet Guard 3 that just started with the cleaning light blinking. I found this site when looking for the heat circuit that the troubleshoots mentions. I read these comments and hoped it would work. I pressed 'Hi Temp Wash' and'Heated Dry' buttons two to three times. All the lights flashed on for a few seconds and then the quick rinse cycle ran for a minute. I believe I used the quick rinse cycle just before this problem of the flashing cleaning light occurred. The machine stopped and all the lights are off. Tomorrow I will see if the washer is working.

Lynn, on the newer boards the key dance is heated dry-normal-heated dry-normal. On the older boards it was high temp-air dry-high temp-air dry. Don't know if yours has been changed or not..Catriver...post back.

Ditto here!  Same blinking light.  Repair guy said we need new computer board and heating circuit for $350 (and it cost me $60 to get this BS assessment).  I just tried the button sequence and ... wah lah! ... all better.  THANK YOU!!!

I have a QuietGuard 3. The sequence Hi Temp, Heated Dry two times initiated a "lock on" so I tried reversing it to Heated Dry then Hi Temp (twice) and now my machine is operating normally. Thanks so much for this helpful, money saving information!

Worked for me on a Kenmore 665 Ultra Wash. I used the heated dry - normal - heated dry - normal sequence. It went into Quick Rinse for some reason after that, so I hit Cancel/Drain (which took longer than I thought it would to finish). Then I set it for the cycle I wanted (Smart Wash) and hit Start. It's running now! Thank you!

Thank you so very much for posting this solution. I have an Inglis built in dishwasher that went on the blink ("clean" light kept blinking) and the "heated dry - normal - heated dry - normal" key sequence fixed the issue immediately!

We ran into the flashing CLEAN light problem and check out the manual. Of course it said we should call for service ... Sears is making a killing if people are actually following through with them ... we hung up on them after they wanted to charge us $60 to look at it and $200 to fix. Thankfully, we found this suggestion and it worked like a champ. Thanks for sharing this tip.

My delay light has come on and I cant get the dishwasher to start. The delay light goes out after the time has expired but if you try to move it to the start position the light comes on again

The Control is programmed to stop running and not allow any further cycles if it detects a water heating problem (no temperature increase detected in heated Main Wash on 3 consecutive cycles). The Control will flash the Clean LED 7 times repeatedly and will disable the Start/Resume key until cleared.

To clear and reset the control press in this order: Heated Dry ? Normal ? Heated Dry ? Normal and then let the unit run for 1-2 minutes and then press Cancel and let the dishwasher complete the cancel cycle. The dishwasher should operate normally again unless it does not detect a temperature rise in the main wash cycle.

It could be caused by a Heater circuit problem if it continues to stop and flash the Clean light.

It could have one of the following failures:
Open in heater.
Open connection or component in heater circuit.
Faulty heater drive circuit on control.
It can also be caused by the wash pump not pumping water past the heater efficiently.

Green "clean" light is blinking non-stop and machine won't start

try pressing the buttons "Heated Dry, Normal, Heated Dry, Normal". It worked on my Whirlpool like a charm.

Clean light flashing

This is a communication error between the control and motor. Try resetting the control by pressing the following keys with in 5 seconds.

HEATED DRY, NORMAL, HEATED DRY, NORMAL

after about 15 seconds hit cancel then the control should be unlocked. If the problem comes back the problem is most likely with the motor for the pump. Check with your warranty, some of these Kenmore models may be under warranty

Kenmore 665 17033400 Elite dishwasher clean light flashes 7 times and it wont run. i used the reset combination, all lights lit and stayed lit until i pressed reset. Then it started a wash. now the wash...

That signals an issue with a faulty heater &/or heater drive circuit.
(that info comes from their troubleshooting guide)
I ran into it this weekend and discovered that the heater coil in the bottom of the washer was broken.

The clean light in my Kenmore dishwasher keeps

It has to do with the water temperture, either the water entering the dishwasher is too cold and the heater can't get it up to temp, or the heater unit has problems... Push the Air dry ,then the sani wash buttons a few times and all the lights will light, it resets the computer .

Clean light keep on flashing

The solution is...press cancel one time and you will see the red light, press another time and the red light will disapear, after press one time on heated dry and after press one time on normal wash after press start and it's suppose to work. For me it was the solution, I hope it will be the same for you.

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher clean light ind flashing and won't start

That means the control sensed that the heater in the d/w did not operate 3 times in a row. so the unit locks out. First remove the kick plate and you may have to pull the unit out from under the cab, but check your heater. use a meter to see if it reads open, if so order a heater assy it will come with a new control replace it to. If your heater checks good press in sequence normal wash , heat dry ,normal wash, heat dry , normal wash , heat dry three times within 6 sec all the lights will come on then hit cancel. What that did is reset the control and clear that fault. Keep in mind that d/w does not heat it's own water your incoming water temp should be 120. the d/w will maintain that temp. when starting your d/w first turn on your hot water till it gets hot then start your d/w this insures your unit fills with hot water and not cold
