I have a toshiba cinama series big black old school television. Now when we turn on the tv screen it just goes black w... as a quick fix i used to be able to hit the tv and the screen would come backand stay on...but now when i hit the tv on the back the screen will come back on for a few seconds then go black again and not stay on. I have a feeling something is loose in the inside of the television... When i remove the back panel what should i look for to tighten? I am a single mother with four children and cannot afford to replace the tv or pay for it to get professionally fixed.. Please help!!

Hi, I am an idependant service engineer, who is currently looking at one of these actually a 36 inch 36zt29b. So far, it looks likely the digital board is at fault sending an 'off' signal to the digital power board. The digital board itself is no longer available. I am going to have a look at this board, and try to fault find it. If I have any success I will post again.

allmansfan your problem could be a cable that needs to be reseated if you take back off first unplug it there is a DVI cable with screws unscrew it pul the cable off and blow it out with some air reseat the cable put it back together and yo should be good to go

amjr2003 take the lamp out and look at it you will be able to tell if it is bad blown,discoloration,bulges in the globe etc. if not you may have a lamp door switch that need s to be aligned look at it there is a screw work the switch around where it lines up with the post

Hi, This is a convergence problem and you can set it right by changing the STKs. It is a professional job and i have knowledge of people who ruined their tv by spoiling some miniature surface mounted components close by. You may need to look at pico fuses too.
